Peyton's Estate.

A Bill to enable Algernon Peyton, Doctor of Divinity, to make Sale of Part of his Lands, for Payment of Debts, was this Day read the Second time.

Fens in Lincolnshire.

A Bill for the better ordering, &c. of divers Fens and Fenny Grounds within the County of Lincolne, and within the County of the City of Lincolne, was this Day read the First time.

Earl of Dorsett's Estate.

A Bill, ingrossed, sent from the Lords, for settling the Manors of Knoll Seale and Kempsing, in the County of Kent, upon the Earl of Dorsett and his Heirs, and chargeing the Manors of Berhill, Cowding, and other Lands, with a Rent Charge of One hundred and Thirty Pounds per Annum in Lieu thereof, was this Day read the Second time.

A Person discharged from custody.

The Mayor of Northampton, being in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, for his Miscarriages in the Election for that Borough, and irreverent Carriage in the Church, and at the Communion Table, was this Day brought to the Bar of this House; and, making an humble Submission upon his Knees, received a grave Reprehension from Mr. Speaker; and was thereupon discharged of his Imprisonment, paying his Fees.

Masters in Chancery.

Mr. Edward Smith reported several Amendments to the Bill for ascertaining and establishing the Fees of the Masters of the Chancery, in Ordinary: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and delivered in the same, together with the said Bill, at the Clerk's Table.

And the said Amendments being severally twice read;

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the said several Amendments, with this Addition after the Word "mentioned," in the Sixth Amendment, "that then every such Master, being thereof legally convicted, shall thenceforth be disabled from the Execution of his said Office of Master of the Chancery;" And also

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the said Amendments, be ingrossed.

Fees of Courts of Justice.

Ordered, That a Grand Committee for regulating the Courts of Justice do sit upon Mondays; and that they take into Consideration the several Fees in all the Courts, Offices, and Prisons, and particularly the Fees in the Exchequer upon passing Sheriffs Accounts; and they are to send for Persons, Papers, and Records, from all Courts, Offices, and Prisons.

Poll-money.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker be authorized to write Letters into the several Counties of England and Wales, and the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, to quicken the speedy Payment of all Arrears of Assessments, Poll-money, and any other Monies whatsoever due to his Majesty, and yet unpaid: And the Knights of the Shires of the several Counties are desired to take care of the Conveyance thereof; and to use their best Endeavours for the Furtherance of this important Service.

Disbanding the Army, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee for the paying off and disbanding the Army and Navy do make Report thereof unto this House on Tuesday Morning next.

Chippenham Election.

Serjeant Charleton reports from the Committee of Privileges and Elections, touching the several Returns of Sir Edward Hungerford, Mr. Bainton, and Sir Hugh Speake, as Burgesses for the Borough of Chippenham in the County of Wilts, that no due Notice was given for the Election; and that so many of the Electors were absent, as might have over-balanced the Poll, had they all been there; and that the Poll, being demanded for all Three, was refused, as against Mr. Bainton; and the Opinion of the Committee, of the wilful Miscarriage of the Bailiff therein, as by Design; and that the Election was void.

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the said Committee, that the Election for the said Borough of Chippenham is void.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker be desired to make a Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to issue a new Writ for the Election of Burgesses for the said Borough of Chippenham.

Resolved, That the Bailiff of Chippenham be sent for in Custody to answer his said Miscarriage at the Election, and his insolent Carriage before the Committee; and that the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy, do apprehend and bring him up in Custody.

Bills sent to Lords.

Ordered, That the Lord Cornbury do carry up to the Lords the Two Bills which were Yesterday returned from the Lords, as they are amended in the Particulars therewith sent; and to desire their Concurrence to them both; but that the Bill for a free and voluntary Present to his Majesty may be sent back.

The Bill for well-governing of Corporations was this Day read the Second time.
