Prayers.

Faunt's Estate.

A BILL for enabling George Faunt, to sell Lands for Payment of his Debts, making Provision for his younger Children, to make his Wife a Jointure, not exceeding Four hundred Pounds per Annum, was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That this Bill be read the Second time, on Wednesday Morning next.

Reducing Interest.

Mr. Pryn reports Amendments to the Bill for reducing Interest to Six Pounds per Cent': Which Amendments were first read by him in his Place; and, after, were twice read by the Clerk; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That the said Bill be ingrossed.

Arrears of Assessments.

Sir Wm. Doyley reports from the Committee of the Army, that whereas several Receivers and Collectors of the monthly Assessments in the Country, who have considerable Sums of Money in their Hands, of the Twelve Months Assessment, commencing Twenty-fourth June 1659; and the Six Months Assessment, commencing Twenty-fifth December 1659; and have received Orders to pay the said Money into the Treasury, or to appear before the Committee for the Army, to clear their Accounts; have not obeyed the said Orders; whereby the several Forces, for whose Pay the said Monies have been long since assigned, receive much Prejudice:

This House is humbly desired to give such Order and Direction therein, as to their Wisdom shall seem meet.

He also reports from the said Committee, that there are several great Sums of Money in Arrear, in several Counties, of the said Twelve Months and Six Months Assessment, which were assigned to several Regiments in Part of their Pay; but the People refused to pay the Money, because it was granted by an illegal Power: Therefore the House is humbly desired to give their further Direction.

A Declaration of both Houses of Parliament, published the 16th of May last, was read.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Committee for the Army, to bring in a Bill for collecting the Arrears of the Assessments for the Twelve Months, commencing the Twenty-fourth of June 1659; and the Six Months Assessment, commencing 25 December 1659; taking care, in the Draught thereof, that where any of the Assessments are not paid by the Persons on whom charged, the same be levied of the Parties; and, where they have been paid, to charge it on the Receivers, or their Security.

Resolved, That the Case of Rob. Guarum, Receiver General for Cornewall, touching Five hundred and Twenty Pounds, Part of the Monies received by him of the Assessments of that County, paid by the Commissioners, and other Gentry, of that County, on extraordinary Occasions for the publick Service, be referred to the said Committee.

Resolved, That all other Cases of the same Nature be referred to the same Committee.

Conference with Lords.

Sir Wm. Wild reports from the Committee to whom it was referred, to prepare Heads for a Conference with the Lords, An Expedient, touching the Clause relating to the King's Judges, mentioned in the Lords Amendment to the Bill of general Pardon and Oblivion.

Ordered, That Sir John Northcot do go to the Lords, and desire a present free Conference with them, upon the Subject-matter of the last Conference.

Ministers.

Ordered, That the Debate upon the Amendments to the Ministers Bill, be taken up To-morrow Morning, at Nine of Clock.

Lords agree to Conference.

Sir John Northcot reports, That he had, according to the Command of this House, attended the Lords with the Desire of this House of a free Conference; and that the Lords do agree thereunto.

Officers in Courts of Justice.

The ingrossed Bill for indemnifying of several Officers in Courts of Justice, was read the Third time; and, on the Question, passed.

Resolved, That the Title of this Bill be, An Act for indemnifying of certain Officers in Courts of Justice.

Navigation.

A Bill for Encouragement of Navigation, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Committee for Encouragement of woolen Manufacture, and Navigation: And that Mr. Pryn, Mr. Thomas, Sir Anthony Irby, be added to that Committee.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Whitmore, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Sir John Hotham, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Mr. Dowdeswell, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Conference with Lords.

Mr. Annesley reports, That, according to the Order of this House, the Committee had been with the Lords at the Conference; and there offered the Expedient, and used the Arguments, which they were directed to offer; and left the same to their Consideration.
