Prayers.

Harwich Minister.

A BILL for Propagation of the Gospel, and Maintenance of a Minister, in the Borough of Harwich, was read.

Ordered, That this Bill be read again on Tuesday Morning.

Ordered, That Mr. Samuell Vassal's Business be taken into Consideration on Tuesday Morning next.

Poll Bill Commissioners.

Ordered, That Thomas Rawlings, named a Commissioner for the Poll Bill in the County of Hereford, be struck out.

Ordered, That Samuell Gott Esquire be added to the Commissioners for the County of Sussex, for the Poll Bill.

Poll Bill.

A Bill, ingrossed, intituled, An Act for the speedy Provision of Money for disbanding and paying off the Forces of this Kingdom, both by Land and Sea, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "and shall receive from the said Treasurers, or any Two of them, a Certificate or Acquittance," be inserted in the One-andtwentieth Folio, Line 12.

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "and others," be added in the . . . Folio, Line . . .

Resolved, That Sir Wm. Vincent, and Mr. Thomas Rich, be added to the Treasurers named in this Act, for receiving the Money arising thereon.

Resolved, That this be the Title of this Act, An Act for the speedy Provision of Money, for disbanding and paying off the Forces of this Kingdom, both by Land and Sea.

And the said Bill, so amended, being put to the Question, passed.

Ordered, That Sir Henage Finch do carry this Bill to the Lords.

Pierre's Nat.

Ordered, That Sir Henage Finch do carry the Bill for naturalizing Peter Pierre, alias Peters, and John de la Pierre, alias Peters, to the Lords.

Tonage and Poundage.

Ordered, That the Petition of the several Planters in the Island of Barbadoes, in America, be referred to the Grand Committee upon the Bill for Tonage and Poundage, to take the same into their Consideration.

Wards and Liveries.

Ordered, That the Report from the Grand Committee touching the Court of Wards, be made on Monday Morning next.

Bills sent to Lords.

Sir Henage Finch did this Day carry to the Lords the Bill for the speedy Provision of Money, for disbanding and paying off the Forces of this Kingdom, both by Land and Sea; and also the Bill for naturalizing Peter de la Pierre, and John de la Pierre, alias Peters.

Debt to Peck.

Whereas, by an Order of the Twenty-third of June last past, it was referred to a Committee of the House of Commons, to consider of the Monies due to Henry Peck Esquire, upon Orders of Parliament, and to report their Opinion, how the same may, with most Conveniency, be satisfied; as also to inform themselves what Monies remain in the Hands of any the Receivers of Papists Estates, and to report the same, with their Opinion, what will be fit to be done for the getting of the same in, that Consideration may be had of satisfying the Money due to the said Mr. Peck; which Debt, so due to Mr. Peck, is, by an Ordinance of the Lords and Commons of the One-and-twentieth of October 1648, stated at Four Thousand Two hundred Eighty-one Pounds Eighteen Shillings Fourpence Halfpeny, and made payable out of Two Thirds of several Recusants Estates, therein named; whereupon the Sum of Three hundred Thirty-eight Pounds Five Shillings Eleven-pence being paid, and no more, Provision was made by an Act of the last Parliament, passed the 15th of March 1659, for satisfying Three thousand Nine hundred Forty-three Pounds Twelve Shillings Five Pence Halfpeny, the Remainder of the said Debt, above what was paid out of the Estates, Compositions, and Arrears mentioned in the said Act; upon which Act there was paid, to the said Mr. Peck, toward Satisfaction of the said Three thousand Nine hundred Forty-three Pounds Twelve Shillings Five-pence Halfpeny . . . . And whereas Mr. Pryn hath reported from the said Committee, that the said Committee, having examined several of the Receivers of Recusants Estates, Rents and Compositions, find remaining, in several of their Hands, the Sums following; viz.

And that the Committee are of Opinion, that Mr. Peck should be satisfied, out of the same, so much of his Debt as the same shall extend unto; and that what other Monies remain in the Hands of those, or of other Receivers of Papists Estates, be paid to Mr. Peck, towards the further satisfying of the said Debt:

Provost Marshal.

Ordered, That out of the several Sums of Money, arising by Papists Estates, which remain in the Hands of any the Receivers of the Rents and Compositions of Papists and Recusants, there be satisfied and paid (after Two hundred Thirty-one Pounds Eleven Shillings . . . ., paid thereout to Lancelot Emot, Provost Marshal of Middlesex and Westminster, for the Salary of himself and his Six Men, from the Seventh of May 1659, to the Eighteenth of June 1660) to Henry Peck Esquire, or his Assigns, so far as the Monies, so remaining in their Hands, shall extend, the Sum of Three thousand Four hundred Fortythree Pounds Twelve Shillings Five-pence Halfpeny, in full of Four thousand Two hundred Eighty-one Pounds Eighteen Shillings Four-pence Half-peny, payable to him upon an Ordinance of the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, of the One-and-twentieth of October 1648, upon which he received the Sum of Three hundred Thirty-eight Pounds Five Shillings Eleven-pence only; and the Residue thereof, viz. (fn. 1) Five thousand Nine hundred Forty Three Pounds Twelve Shillings Five-pence Halfpeny, made payable to him by an Act of the last Parliament, passed the Fifteenth of March 1659, upon which he received the Sum of Five hundred Pounds only; and that in order thereunto, the several Receivers of Recusants Estates do forthwith make their Accounts with the respective Auditors to whom it doth or shall appertain, for all the said Monies remaining in their respective Hands; and do also forthwith satisfy and pay the same into his Majesty's Receipt of publick Exchequer, to be applied towards Mr. Peck's Satisfaction, as aforesaid; and that the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury do issue their Warrant or Warrants, for paying, at the said Receipt of Exchequer, by the Monies that shall be from time to time so paid in by the Receivers, the said Sum of Three thousand Four hundred Forty-three Pounds Eleven Shillings Five-pence Halfpeny, or so much thereof as the Monies so remaining in the Receivers Hands shall extend unto; and also for striking of Tallies for the same; and the Acquittance and Acquittances of the said Mr. Peck, or his Assignees, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the several Tellers, and other Officers of the said Receipt, whom it shall concern, for the said whole Sum, or such Part thereof, as shall be paid towards the same.

Ordered, That the Sum of Two hundred Thirty-one Pounds Eleven Shillings and a Peny be paid at his Majesty's Receipt of Exchequer, out of such Monies arising by Papists Estates, and remaining in the Hands of any the Receivers of the said Estates, as shall be paid into the said Receipt, to Launcelot Emot, Provost Marshal of Middlesex and Westminster, for the Salary of himself and his Six Men, from the 7th of May 1659, to the 18th of June 1660; and that the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury do pass Warrants for Payment thereof accordingly.

Tonnage and Poundage.

The House, according to former Order, was this Day resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for Tonnage and Poundage.

Mr. Charlton reports from the said Grand Committee, that they desire the Leave of this House to sit again on Monday Morning next.

Resolved, That, on Monday Morning next, the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for Tonage and Poundage.

Ordered, That Nevill Maskaline, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country.

Milborne Port Writ.

Ordered, That a new Writ be issued for the Election of a Burgess, to serve in this present Parliament, for the Borough of Milborne Port in the County of Somerset, in the Place of Wm. Milborne Esquire, deceased; and that Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to prepare a Writ for the Purpose aforesaid; which the Lord Chancellor is to issue, and pass under the Great Seal of England, accordingly.
