Letters read.

MR. Say reports from the Council of State, A Letter from the Lord General, of the Eighth of August 1651; with a Letter inclosed, from John Waddesworth, of the First of August 1651; with a Letter from Sir Arthure Hesilrig, from Newcastle, of the Tenth of August 1651; and, A Letter from Major General Harrison, of the Tenth of August 1651.

Which were all this Day read; and returned back again to the Council of State.

Successes in, Ireland, &c.

A Letter from the Lord Broghill, from near Mallo, of the Twenty-eighth of July 1651; with a Narrative of the Victory obtained by the Lord Broghill against the Rebels in Ireland, were this Day read.

Ordered, That the Act touching the Lord Broghill be read on This-day-sevennight, the first Business: And that Mr. Speaker do put the House in mind thereof.

Ordered, That the Ministers within the respective Parishes within the City of London, and late Lines of Communication, on the next Lord's Day, do give Thanks unto Almighty God for the several great Victories and Successes which the Lord hath lately given to the Parliament Forces, both in Ireland and Scotland: And that the Lord Mayor of London do take care, that Notice hereof be given to the Ministers of the respective Churches within the said City of London, and late Lines of Communication accordingly.

Exceptions from Pardon.

Ordered, That the Council of State do report the Names of the Persons to be excepted from Pardon, in the Qualifications for Ireland, on Friday Morning next.

Lady Loftus.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Lady Dorothy Loftus be read on Wednesday next, next after the Act for the Lord Broghill is read.

Disposing of Arms, &c.

The Lord Commissioner Lisle reports an Act prohibiting the Disposing of any Ordnance, Arms, or Ammunition, without Licence; or to wear Arms: and to prevent tumultuous Meetings, and disorderly Actions.

Which was this Day read the First and Second time; and was, afterwards, read by Parts.

And the First Clause being read, after some Amendments at the Table, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the Second Clause being read, after some Amendments at the Table, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the Third Clause being read, was, after some Amendments at the Table, assented unto.

And the Fourth Clause being read, was, after some Amendments at the Table, upon the Question, assented unto.

The Question being put, That these Words, "within the late Lines of Communication," do stand in the Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

The Fifth Clause being read;

And the Question being put, To agree to the latter Part of the said Clause;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Clause, after some Amendment at the Table, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

The Sixth Clause being read;

Resolved, That the Penalty in this Clause be, of sequestration.

And the said Clause, after some Amendment at the Table, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

The Seventh Clause being read, after some Amendment at the Table, was, upon the Question assented unto.

And the First Proviso being read, after some Amendment at the Table, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the Second Proviso being read, was, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the Question being put, That this Act be ingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, passed: And

It is Ordered, That the said Act be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to take care that this Act be forthwith published and proclaimed by the Sheriffs in the several Counties, Cities, and Places, within this Commonwealth.
