A BILL for naturalizing Harmon Jacob, Colonel John Rosworme, * Owen, John George Sadowsky, alias Sedascae, Lord of Slaupna, Richard Bogan, Esther Bogan, now Wife of Josia Ricraft, of London, Merchant, Magdalen Bogan, John Kirk, James Kirke, and Mary Kirke, now Wife of John West, of London, Gentleman, Wm. Barnesley, Henry Barnesley, Susan Barnesley, and Catherine Barnesley, and of Mary, Wife of Thomas Russell, Mary Barrington, Wife of John Barrington, Samuel Pygott, Isaac Pygott, and Hannah Pygott, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question committed unto Sir Arthure Hesilrig, Mr. Bond, Mr. Lechmere, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Edwards, Colonel Lister, Mr. Millington, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Stephens, Colonel Bossevile, Mr. Garland, Mr. Holland, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Ash, Alderman Allen, Colonel Thompson, Mr. Dove, Mr. Say, Colonel Fielder, Mr. Pierpoint, Lord Grey, Mr. Nevill, Mr. Clement, Mr. Moyle, Mr. West, Sir John Danvers, Alderman Atkins; or any Five of them: And they are to meet at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber: And all that come, to have Voices: With Power to the said Committee to take into Consideration Wm. Northy Gentleman, Son of Wm. Northy, of the Middle Temple, London, Esquire, and William Hanmer, Son of Sir Thomas Hanmer Baronet, by Susan his Wife, and John Rushowt Merchant, a Datchman born: And that they be added in this Bill, if the Committee think fit.

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do report the Business touching the Lady Gorges, on Friday Morning next.

A Bill prescribing an Oath to be administred to such Persons, born beyond the Seas, as shall be naturalized, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the same Committee.

Interest of Money.

Mr. Lechmere reports Amendments to the Bill for reducing Interest to Six Pounds in the Hundred: Which were read the First and Second time.

The Question being put, That the House doth agree with the Committee in the First Amendment, that these Words, "upon any Contract, to be made after the said Nine-and twentieth of September," and these Words, inserted after the Word "shall," "for any Loan or Forbearance after that Day,". . . . . . . ;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it passed with the Negative.

The Question being put, That this Clause, "That, upon any Contract, made after the said Nine-and-twentieth of September," shall stand throughout the whole Bill;

It passed with the Affirmative.

The Question being put, That this Clause; viz. "And be it further Enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That all and every Scrivener and Scriveners, Broker and Brokers, Solicitor and Solicitors, Driver," &c. to the Word "this," in the last Line in the Second Leaf, being omitted by the said Committee; do stand in the Bill;

It passed with the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment for leaving out this Clause in the Bill, "This Act to continue for Seven Years, from the said Nine-and-twentieth of September 1651, and no longer;"

It passed with the Affirmative.

The Question being put, That the House doth agree with the Committee, that this Proviso, "Provided That no Words in this Law contained shall be construed or expounded to allow the Practice of Usury, in point of Religion or Conscience," be left out;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the rest of the Amendments, being put to the Question, were assented unto.

Resolved, That this Bill, so amended, be ingrossed.

Lewisham Schools.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in, for Abraham Colfe, Minister of Lewisham in Kent, to erect and settle Two Schools, and to maintain the same, in the said Town of Lewisham.

Debts.

Resolved, That the Amendments to the Bill for making Lands liable to pay Debts be reported on Friday Morning next, the first Business.

Advancing the Gospel.

Ordered, That the Bill for the Advancement of the Gospel be read on Friday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Bill for registering Conveyances, be read on Friday Morning next.

Ly. Ranalaugh.

The humble Petition of the Lady Viscountess Ranalaugh, was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Lady Ranalaugh be allowed a Pension of Four Pounds per Week, for her Maintenance, for Six Months; together with the Arrears, at that Rate, since the Time of the Determination of the former Pension: And that the Council of State do take care that the same be paid, accordingly.
