Prayers.

Sydney's Petition.

THE humble Petition of Colonel Algernon Sydney, was this Day read.

Resolved, That this Petition be referred to a Committee of this House; to examine the whole Business; and state the Matter of Fact: With Power to hear all Parties; and to send for Persons and Papers; and to report it to the House, with all convenient Speed: And that all Proceedings by the Court Martial, in that Case, be suspended in the mean time: Colonel Purefoy, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Long, Sir Wm. Masham, Colonel Marten, Colonel Wauton, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Love, Lord Commissioner Whitelock, Major Salway, Major General Skippon, Alderman Allen, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Tho. Wroth, Mr. Bond, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Say, Lord Viscount Lisle, Major General Harrison, Mr. Lechmere, Lord Grey, Sir Wm. Armyne, Mr. Moyle, Colonel Jones, Mr. * Ashe, Colonel Ingoldsby; or any Five of them: And this Committee, or any Five of them, are to meet at Two of Clock this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Correspondence with Spaine.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do take the Chair Tomorrow at Ten of Clock: And that Mr. Marten do then make the Report of the Answer to be given to the Ambassador from the King of Spaine.

Probate of Wills.

Ordered, That, on Thursday-sevennight, the Bill for Probate of Wills be read, the first Business.

Leveson's Fine.

Ordered, That Sir Richard Leveson, do forthwith pay in the Remainder of the Money due upon his Fine, for his Composition to the Commissioners for Compounding: Who are hereby impowered and authorized to receive the same; and thereupon to give him a full discharge of the said Fine, and all Penalties for Nonpayment of the said Money within the Time wherein he was to pay the same.

Portugall Trade.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do take care that no Deceit be used in the Sale of the Linen and Sugars brought from Portugall, to the Defrauding of the Commonwealth.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That the Committee touching Londonderry, and the Adventurers for Ireland, be, and are hereby, enjoined to meet this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber; and so de die in diem.

Army Accompts.

An Act for stating the Accompts of Officers and Soldiers, in Field and Garrison, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to Mr. Lechmere, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Say, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Love, Lord Grey, Colonel Fielder, Sir William Masham, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Bond, Mr. Hallowes, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Masham, Sir Henry Heyman, Major Salwey, Colonel Purefoy, Mr. Carew, Mr. Hodges, Colonel Wauton, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Garland, Mr. Mackworth, Mr. Nutt, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Thomas Challoner, Mr. Wild, Major Lister, Mr. Hayes, Alderman Pennington, Mr. Aldsworth: And all that will come, to have Voices: And this Committee are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Ly. Denny's Allowance.

The Question being propounded, That the Commissioners for Compounding be impowered, at this time, to give their Warrant to the Treasurers of Haberdashers Hall to pay to the Lady Denny the Arrears of the weekly Allowance granted unto her, by former Order of the Fiveand-twentieth of December 1646; and that the Acquittance and Acquittances of the said Lady Denny, or her Assignees, shall be a sufficient Discharge for the same;

The House was divided.

So it passed with the Affirmative.

Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Commissioners for Compounding be, and are hereby, impowered, at this time, to give their Warrant to the Treasurers at Haberdashers Hall to pay to the Lady Denny the Arrears of the Weekly Allowance granted to her, by former Order of the Five-and-Twentieth of December 1646: And that the Acquittance and Acquittances of the said Lady Denny, or her Assigns, shall be a sufficient Discharge for the same.
