Die Martis, 12 Novembris, 1650.

Prayers.

High Court of Justice, &c.

MR. Holland reports from the Council of State, That there is Two thousand Pounds in the Receipt of the Committee of Accompts, which this Council did give Warrant for Payment thereof, partly for the Charge of the High Court of Justice, and for some other Services, which they have not paid; for that they alledge they are not to pay, but upon special Order of the Parliament; and to desire the House to give their special Order therein.

Ordered, by the Parliament, That the said Sum of Two thousand Pounds, in the Receipt of the Committee of Accompts, be forthwith paid to the Council of State, and according to their Warrant, for the carrying on the Charge of the High Court of Justice, and for other publick Services: And the Treasurers of the said Receipt are hereby authorized and required to make Payment thereof, accordingly.

Sheriffs.

Ordered, That the Name of William Lloyd, appointed Sheriff for the County of Flint, being mistaken, be amended, and made Thomas Lloyd.

Resolved, That Anthony Meeres Esquire be, and is nominated and approved of to be, Sheriff for the County of Lincoln, for the Year ensuing: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue forth a Commission to him, under the Great Seal, to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Raising Money.

A Bill for Raising of One hundred and Twenty thousand Pounds per mensem for Four Months, upon the several and respective Counties, by way of Assessment, was this Day read the Second time: and, upon the Question, committed to the Committee of the Army: And all that come, to have Voices, as to this Business: And that the same be brought in again on Thursday Morning next.

Resolved, That the Proportions set upon the County of Warwick, and the City of Coventry, in this Assessment, be cast together in this Act, to be proportioned equally among themselves: And that the Commissioners for Coventry be added to the County of Warwick.

Resolved, That Samuel Warner Esquire be one of the Commissioners in this Bill for the County of Middlesex.

A Letter from Mr. Thomas Scott, and divers other Gentlemen of the County of Kent, from Maidston, 7 Augusti 1650, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Letter be referred to the said Committee; to examine the Matter of Fact; and report their Opinions therein to the House.

Cambridge University.

The humble Petition of the Vice Chancellor and Senate of the University of Cambridge, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of the Army; to state the Matter of Fact; and to present their Opinions therein to the House.

Delinquents Estates.

Ordered, That the Act for Sale of Delinquents Estates be read on This-day-sevennight, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Transactions with France.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the French Business be made To-morrow Morning at Eleven of Clock, the first Business after Mr. Speaker takes the Chair.

Beer and Ale.

Ordered, That this Act touching Beer and Ale be read To-morrow Morning, next after the Report touching the French.

Customs in Scotland.

Sir Henry Vane reports from the Council of State, A Letter from Sir Arthur Hesilrig, from Newcastle, of the Seventh Day of November 1650, concerning the Custom of Goods to Scotland.

Which was this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Letter be referred to the Committee of the Navy; to take care to prevent these Obstructions; and to give such Order therein as they shall think fit, both for the Benefit of the Commonwealth, and the Supply of the Army.

Fox's Family.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for Compounding be, and are hereby, authorized and required to issue their Warrants to their Sub Commissioners to permit the Children of Colonel John Fox, deceased, to hold and enjoy the quiet Possession of Two Parts, in Three to be divided, of the Manor of Edgbason, with the Appurtenances, in the County of Warwick; and to take and receive the Rents, Issues, and Profits, thereof; and also, Two Parts, in Three to be divided, of the Lands of Robert Middlemore, in the Parishes of Kings Norton, Yardley, and Nothfield, in the County of Worcester: And that they have the like Benefit and Advantage as was intended and enacted to the said Colonel Fox, according to the Act made to the said Colonel Fox in that Behalf: And that the said Commissioners be required to issue their Warrants to the Treasurers of the Receipt of Goldsmiths Hall, to satisfy and pay unto the Use of the Wife and the Children of the said Colonel Fox all such Monies as have been paid in to that Receipt, for the Premises so granted by the said Act to the said Colonel Fox, from the time the said Act was passed.

Ordered, by the Parliament, That the Commissioners for Compounding with Delinquents be, and are hereby authorized and impowered to give Warrant unto the Treasurers of the Receipt of Goldsmiths Hall, to make Payment of the Arrears of the Monies payable by Order of Parliament to the Earl of Nottingham, in lieu of his Penson; and to continue the Payment thereof, from time to time, for the future, according to the said Order: And that the said Payments be made in the same Way and Manner as was formerly appointed for the said Earl, and his Lady, respectively; that is to say, Four hundred Pounds per Annum to the Earl, and One hundred Pounds per Annum to his said Lady.
