Lord Daincourt's Composition.

ORDERED, That the Quorum of the Committee touching the Lord Daincourt's Composition for his Delinquency be reduced to Three: And that the said Committee, or any Three of them, do sit and act accordingly.

Publick Fast.

Sir William Masham reports Amendments to the Bill for enacting Thursday the Thirteenth of June next to be a Day of Publick Fasting and Humiliation: Which Amendments were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

And the Bill so amended, being put to the Question, passed; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That the Council of State do take care that the said Act be sent into all the several and respective Parishes within this Commonwealth, in convenient Time: And that there be Ten thousand of them printed to that Purpose.

Transactions with Hamburge.

A Letter from Hamburge, the Thirtieth Day of April, from the Agent for the Parliament of England, and the Proposals made by him to the Senate there, were this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Letter and Proposals be delivered back again to Mr. Thomas Challoner, and returned to the Council of State.

And they were returned accordingly.

Embassy from Holland.

A Letter from Mr. Strickland, Resident for the Parliament in Holland, from the Hague, of the 23/13th of May 1650, was this Day read.

Resolved, That Mynheer Schaph, Commissioner from the Province of Holland, shall have an honourable and fitting Reception.

Ordered, That this Letter be referred to the Council of State, to take care the same be done.

Sheriff of Norfolk.

Ordered, That Hugh Audley Esquire, High Sheriff of the County of Norfolk, have Licence to come up to London; and to stay there during the Term Times, upon his necessary Occasions.

Assessment.

An Act for an Assessment for Six Months, from the Twenty-fourth Day of June 1650, for Maintenance of the Forces raised for the Service of England and Ireland, after the Rate of Ninety thousand Pounds for the first Three Months, and after the Rate of Sixty thousand Pounds for the last Three Months, was this Day read the Third time.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, "That nothing contained in this Act shall be extended to charge any Master, Fellow, or Scholar, of any College in either of the Universities, or in the Colleges of Winchester, Eaton, or Westminster, or any other Free Schools, or any Reader, Officer, or Minister, of the said Universities or Colleges, or in any Hospital or Alms-house, for and in regard of any Stipend, Wages, or Profit whatsoever, arising or growing due to them in respect of their said several Places and Employments in the said Universities, Colleges, Schools, Hospitals, or Alms-houses; any thing in this present Act to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding."

"A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, "That nothing contained in this Act shall be extended to charge any of the Rents or Revenues belonging to Rochester Bridge: And that the Tenant or Tenants of the said Bridge Lands or Houses shall be charged, by virtue of this Act, for so much only of the Rent of the said Lands and Tenements as they are worth by the Year, over and above the Rent and Revenue due and payable to the Bridge as aforesaid; any thing in this present Act to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding: "Which was this Day read the First time.

And the Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed with the Negative; and was, upon the Question, rejected.

And the said Act, with some Amendments at the Table, being put to the Question, passed; and was ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That a competent Number of the said Acts be sent into the several Cities, Counties, Boroughs and Towns, within this Commonwealth: And that the Committee of the Army do take care that the same be sent down and dispersed into the said several Cities, Counties, Boroughs, and Towns, accordingly.
