Articles of Pendennis Castle.
A Letter from the General, touching the Confirming of the Articles for Rendition of Pendennis Castle, of the One-and-twentieth of November 1649, was this Day read.
A Report of the State of the Business, touching the Articles of Rendition of Pendennis Castle, from the Officers of the Army to the General, was this Day read.
The Copy of a Letter from Robert Bennett, Anthony Rous, and Christofer Worthivale, to the Committee for Articles, was this Day read.
The Question being propounded, That Mr. Moyle be desired to write to the Committee of the County of Cornwall, to examine the Truth of the Allegations in this Letter; and that the said Committee be impowered to examine, upon Oath, as to this Purpose; and, after the Examination returned, That Mr. Moyle do wait upon the General, and acquaint him with the Truth of the Business;
And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;
The House was divided.

Beer and Ale.
The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Bill ingrossed, for regulating the Excise of Beer and Ale brewed in private Families.
And the Question being propounded to agree to this Clause in the said Bill, beginning thus; viz. "And be it further, by the Authority aforesaid, Enacted and Ordained, That such Person or Persons as do brew any Ale or Beer in their own Families;" and ending thus; viz. "the same not being sold, uttered, or retailed, as abovesaid;"
It passed with the Negative.
A Proviso was tendered to the said Bill, "That no Person who hath not above Three Pounds a Year in Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, or not worth One hundred Marks in personal Estate, shall be charged with the Payment of Excise for such Beer or Ale, as he or they shall brew or spend in their own Families; any thing in this Act, or any other Act or Ordinance of Parliament contained, notwithstanding:" Which was read the First time.
And the Question being put, That the said Proviso be read the Second time;
It passed with the Negative.
And the said Bill, with some Amendments at the Table, being put to the Question, passed: And
Is Ordered, That the Act be forthwith printed and published.
Resolved, That the Committee of the Navy be added to the Committee for the Excise: And that this Committee shall be the Committee to which the Act touching the Way of collecting the Excise for Ale and Beer, brewed and spent in private Families, doth relate.
