Prayers.

Gospel in Wales.

ORDERED, That the Act touching Preaching of the Gospel in Wales, be read on Tuesday Morning, next after the Reports in Sir Arthur Hesilrig's Hands from the Council of State, (which are to be the first Business); and nothing to intervene.

Letter read.

A Letter from Mr. Walter Strickland, from the Hague, of the 27/17 of January 1650, was this Day read.

Ordered, by the Parliament, That the said Letter be referred to the Council of State.

Excise.

Mr. Corbett reports from the Committee of Excise, concerning the advancing the Excise upon Beer and Ale.

The Question being propounded, To agree with the Committee in this Report;

It passed with the Negative.

The Question being propounded, That the several Resolutions of this House, ordered to be printed and published the One-and-twentieth of December 1649, touching Rates of the Excise, and New Impost, set and imposed by Parliament on the several Commodities imported, excepting only the Four Resolutions touching the Excise of Salt, shall be and are suspended, until the House take further Order: And the Commissioners of Excise, and their Officers, are hereby impowered and required to collect and raise the Excise upon the Rates formerly set, according to the Powers formerly given unto them.

And the Question being put, That the Word "suspended" do stand in the Question;

It passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put;

It was Resolved, That the several Resolutions of this House, ordered to be printed and published the One-andtwentieth of December 1649, touching Rates of the Excise, and New Impost, set and imposed by Parliament on the several Commodities imported, excepting only the Four Resolutions touching the Excise of Salt, shall be and are suspended, until the House take further Order: And the Commissioners of Excise, and their Officers, are hereby impowered and required to collect and raise the Excise upon the Rates formerly set, according to the Powers formerly given unto them.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Excise, to consider of the speediest and best Ways for the collecting the Excise, according to the former Resolution, for the most Ease of the People, and best Advantage of the Commonwealth: And that the said Committee do sit this Afternoon; and so de die in diem; and make Report thereof to the House.

Fee-farm Rents.

Ordered, That the Committee concerning the Sale of Fee-farm Rents, do sit this Afternoon; and so de die in diem; and bring in the Report on Tuesday Morning next.

East India Company.

Ordered, That the Bill touching Trade be brought in, and the Report touching the East India Company be made, on Thursday next, the first Business; nothing to intervene.
