Prayers.

Excise.

THE House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Grand Committee,

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Stephens took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Stephens reports to the House, from the Grand Committee touching the Grand Excise, That it is the Opinion of that Committee. That a Committee be appointed, to take into Consideration the present Charges on the Excise, as to particular Uses; and how, and in what manner, the present Engagements on the Excise may, with the Consent of the Parties concerned, be best taken off; and to call the Persons before them; and to treat with them; and to tender them such other Security as may give them Satisfaction, and as the House shall approve of.

Resolved, That the House doth agree with the Grand Committee herein.

Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to take into Consideration the present Charges on the Excise, as to the particular Uses; and how, and in what manner, the present Engagements on the Excise may, with the Consent of the Parties concerned, be best taken off; and to call the Parties before them; and to treat with them; and to tender them such other Security as may give them Satisfaction, and as the House shall approve of: Viz. unto Sir Henry Vane, Colonel Harvey, Mr. Bond, Mr. Allen, Mr. Robinson, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Miles Corbett, Mr. Boone, Mr. Oldesworth, Mr. Anlaby, Mr. Gold, Colonel Rich, Alderman Atkins, Mr. James Challoner, Mr. Holland, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. John Corbett, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Hoyle, Colonel Waite, Colonel Venne, Sir Richard Lucy, Mr. Clement, Mr. Long, Mr. Masham, Mr. Leman, Mr. Scott, Mr. Thomas Challener, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Hussey, Colonel Fielder; or any Three of them: And Mr. Allen, Mr. Hussey, and Mr. John Corbett, are to take care of it: And this Committee are to meet in the Queen's Court, this Afternoon at Two of the Clock.

Resolved, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee on Thursday Morning next, at Eight of Clock: And that Mr. Speaker do then forbear to take the Chair.

Officers Horses.

Ordered, That the Committee of Worcester House have Power to take the Oath of Major Mayre, and those Officers of that Regiment that are to go to Ireland, in regard of their immediate and necessary Dispatch in the present Expedition for Ireland, for the Number of Horses kept by them, for which they shall demand Pay: And that their respective Oaths shall be a sufficient Testimony whereupon the said Committee may give Allowance unto them, upon their Accompts; the former Instruction notwithstanding.

Crown Lands.

An Act, with further Instructions to the Treasurers, Trustees, Contractors Registers, Surveyors, and other the Persons employed in the Sale of the Honours, Manors, and Lands, belonging to the late King, Queen, and Prince, and for the stating of Accompts, was this Day read the Third time: And some Amendments made at the Table.

And the Bill, being so amended, was, upon the Question, passed: and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Resolved, That this House doth declare, That the Tenants of the Lands of the late King, Queen, and Prince, shall have and receive no prejudice by the Suspension of the Sale of the said Lands; but that all and every the said Tenants shall have the like Benefit of Pre-emption, after the Time limited for Stay of the said Sale, as by the Act they are to have after the Return or Publication of the Survey.

Officers Horses.

An Act touching Proof to be made for keeping of Horses for which Pay is demanded, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committeed to the Committee of the Army.

Adjournment.

Resolved, That the House, when it riseth, do adjourn itself till Tuesday Morning.

Writs of Error.

Ordered, That the Bill touching Writs of Error be reported on Friday next.

Mayor of Sarum.

Resolved, That this House doth approve of what hath been done by Mr. Francis Dove, the Mayor of Sarum, in pursuing and retaking the Prisoners which escaped out of the Gaol there: And that Sir John Danvers, Colonel Ludlow, and Mr. Wm. Stephens the Recorder of Sarum, do return the Thanks of this House to the Mayor, for his good Service therein: And that the Sheriff of the County of Wiltes be required to take care to satisfy the Charges of the Persons employed in that Service: And that the same be allowed to him upon his Accompts in the Exchequer.

Reduced Officers.

The Act enabling divers reduced Officers, and others, subscribed to a Petition for making Discoveries to the publick Use, and towards their Satisfaction, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to Sir Arthur Hesilrige, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Martin, Mr. Garland, Colonel Wauton, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Smith, Mr. Holland, Mr. Anlaby, Mr. Myles Corbett, Captain Skinner; Colonel Venne, Colonel Temple, Mr. Lister, Mr. Lechmere, Mr. Leman, Colonel Harrison, Colonel Rich, Colonel Fleetwood, Colonel Purefoy, Colonel Ludlow, Mr. Temple, Colonel Wayte, Mr. Dunch, Mr. Hallowes, Mr. Sallwey, Mr. John Corbett, Mr. John Goodwyn; or any Five of them: And this Committee are to meet on Tuesday next, at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber.

And the Care hereof is committed to Mr. Lechmere.

Ordered, That the Reports of Potter's and Sanderson's List be made on Tuesday Morning next.
