Prayers.

Newcastle, &c. Garisons.

A LETTER from Sir Arthur Heslerigg, from Newcastle, of the Thirteenth of September 1649, was this Day read.

Ordered, That it be specially recommended to the Committee of the Army, to take care, that the Assignments to the Garison of Newcastle, and the Garisons in the Four Northern Counties, be constantly and duly paid.

Goodyeare's Claims.

The humble Petition of Henry Goodyeare, Captain Lieutenant to Sir Arthur Heslerigg Knight, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Three hundred Pounds be paid unto Captain Goodyeare, in Recompence for his Monies and Goods lost in Tynmouth Castle, for his Constancy and Fidelity to the Parliament, out of such concealed Delinquents Estates as he shall discover to the Committee at Haberdashers Hall: And the Committee at Haberdashers Hall are to proceed upon such Discoveries; and out of the same to make Payment of the said Three hundred Pounds unto the said Captain Goodyeare accordingly.

Grant to Chappell.

The humble Petition of Charrity Chappell, Widow, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Forty Shillings per Week be allowed and paid unto the said Charrity Chappell, weekly, for Six Months now next ensuing: And that the same be charged upon Haberdashers Hall: And the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, and their Treasurer, are hereby authorized and required to make Payment thereof accordingly.

Admission of a Member.

Ordered, That the Earl of Salisbury, being elected Burgess for the Town of Lynne Regis in the County of Norfolk, be admitted into this House.

Committees.

Ordered, That the Earl of Pembroke, Earl of Salisbury, and the Lord Howard, be of all the several Committees of which they were formerly nominated and appointed; and be and are hereby impowered and authorized to sit and act in all the said several Committees accordingly.

Weavers Hall Treasurer.

An Act for constituting Thomas Noel Esquire Treasurer for the whole Monies payable upon Weavers Hall Bills, and to pass and allow of the same, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

Crimes at Sea.

Mr. Bacon reports from the Committee of the Navy, Amendments to an Act for the Punishment of Crimes committed upon, or beyond Seas: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the said Act, so amended, was, upon the Question, ordered to be ingrossed; and brought in To-morrow Morning.

Inrolling Acts.

Journals.

Ordered, That all Acts of Parliament, that have or shall pass this House, shall be ingrossed and inrolled: And that a Committee be appointed, from time to time, to examine the Journal Book, to see if there be any Mistakes, or Misentries, in the said Book: Viz. unto Mr. Dove, Mr. Garland, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Nath. Bacon, Mr. Attorney General; or any Two of them.

Militia.

Ordered, That the Bill for the Militia of the whole Commonwealth be read, the first Business, To-morrow Morning; nothing to intervene.

Tolson's Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Mr. Tolson be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to examine the Business, and to make Restitution of the Customs taken; and give the Petitioner Liberty to transport his Wines to any other Place beyond Seas, if they shall see Cause.

Trustees for Bishops Lands.

Resolved, That this House doth declare, That it was the Intent of this House, that Richard Venner, one of the Trustees for the Sale of the Lands of Archbishops and Bishops, be included in the Vote of the Twenty-fourth of May last, as one of the Trustees who are, by the said Vote, to be allowed, for their Salary, Three-pence in the Pound of all such Monies as are or shall be raised by the Sale of all such of the said Lands which are or shall be by them conveyed to Purchasers; discounting out of the same, the Two thousand Pounds already paid unto them: And that the said Richard Venner have the like Benefit of the said Vote, and the like proportionable Part of the said Salary, as the other Trustees named particularly in the said Vote.

Army Surgeons, &c.

Whereas the Sum of Eleven hundred Pounds was heretofore ordered to be paid for Satisfaction of Arrears to the Surgeons, Physicians, and Apothecaries, to the wounded, maimed, and sick Soldiers, and charged upon the Treasurers at Guildhall: It is now Ordered, That the said Sum of Eleven hundred Pounds be paid out of the sequestred Rents paid in to Goldsmiths Hall: And that the same be disposed of according to the former Order: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the Treasurers of the wounded, maimed, and sick Soldiers shall be a sufficient Discharge to the said Committee at Goldsmiths Hall, and their Treasurers, and to such Person and Persons as shall pay the same, for the said Eleven hundred Pounds, or any Part thereof: And that the said former Order, and likewise the Order of the Seventh of September instant, be vacated and discharged.

French Wines.

A Letter from the Lord Joachimii, Ordinary Ambassador from the States of Holland, was this Day read, in French, being directed thus, "A l'honorable Parliament d' Angleterre, assemblé a ; Westminstre;" and Englished.

Resolved, That, as to the several Desires made to the Parliament, concerning some Dispensation of the Act prohibiting the Importation of French Wines; the Parliament declare, That they will not admit any Dispensation of the said Act; but that the same be duly observed, and be effectually put in Execution.

Westminster School.

Colonel Fielder reports Amendments to the Act touching the School at Westminster: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And also reports the Names of the Governors of the School and Alms-house of Westminster: Which were this Day read; and, upon the Question, agreed upon.

A Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That Lambert Osbaldeston Clerk, late Prebend of the Collegiate Church at Westminster, shall enjoy during his Life, the Messuage, with the Appurtenances lately belonging to his said Prebend, with all Profits and Allowances heretofore granted or allowed, and excepted by Ordinance of Parliament, dated the Eighteenth of November 1645: Which was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time; and was read the Second time; and laid aside.

Another Proviso was tendered to the said Act, That the said Governors be authorized and required to pay unto Lambert Osbaldston Clerk the yearly Sum of One hundred Pounds, out of the Profits of the Lands herein mentioned, for and during the Term of his natural Life: Which was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be Part of the Bill.

And the said Bill, upon the Question, so amended, was agreed to; and is ordered to be ingrossed.
