Prayers.

E. of Denbigh's Claims.

ORDERED, That the Petition of Basil Earl of Denbigh, formerly referred to the Committee touching Sale of the King's Goods, be now referred to the Committee to whom Colonel Marten's Business is referred; to take the same into Consideration; and consider what is fit to be done therein; and present their Opinion to the House with all speed.

Religious Toleration.

An Act for repealing several Acts of 1° Eliz. 23° Elizabethæ, and 35° Elizabethæ, for punishing Persons for not coming to their Parish Church; and of 1° Jacobi, whereby the former Acts are revived; was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to Mr. Myles Corbett, Mr. Holland, Alderman Wilson, Mr. Bond, Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Marten, Mr. Smith, Sir Henry Vane senior, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Love, Mr. Salway, Colonel Fleetwood, Colonel Harrison, Sir Guilbert Pickering, Mr. Darley, Mr. Millington, Colonel Wauton, Mr. Aldworth, Mr. Weaver, Lord Gray, Lord Howard, Mr. Lister, Colonel Purefoy, Mr. Garland, Mr. Scott, Mr. Pelham, Alderman Pennington, Alderman Atkin, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland; or any Five of them; And Mr. Holland and Mr. Weaver are to take care hereof: And to meet this Afternoon at Three of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber; and to bring it in To-morrow Morning.

Judges Salaries.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, That the Order for restraining the Committee of the Revenue from Payment of the Pensions doth not extend to restrain the Payment of the Salaries to the respective Judges of the Admiralty; but that the Committee of the Revenue do pay to the said several Judges their respective Salaries, as formerly.

Excise.

An Act for borrowing One hundred Fifty thousand Pounds upon the first Four hundred thousand Pounds, charged on the Excise, was this Day read the First and Second time.

And, after some Alterations and Amendments at the Table, the said Act, so amended, was, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be printed and published, together with the Act touching the first Four hundred thousand Pounds, charged on the Receipt of the Excise.

Excise Commissioners.

An Act for Discharge of the Commissioners of the Grand Excise, until 29 September 1647, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

Admission of a Member.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Trevor be admitted into the House.

Act of Oblivion.

Ordered, That the Act of Oblivion be brought in Tomorrow Morning, the first Business.

Admission of a Member.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Heyman be admitted into the House.

Army.

Ordered; That this House doth approve of what the General hath done, in allowing Two Shillings Sixpence a Week to each Soldier and Non-commission Officer of Foot, and the Train of Artillery; and Three Shillings Eight-pence the Week to the Horse; over and above the established Pay, in Consideration of Billet Money, during such time as they did quarter within the City of London and Westminster, and the Parts adjacent.

And it is further Ordered, That the General's Hand to the Committee of the Army, ascertaining the Time when the said Allowance for Billet shall begin and end, shall be a sufficient Authority for the said Committee to issue forth their Order to the Treasurers at War, to give Allowance of the said Billet Money, in taking the Accompts of such respective Officers as stand charged with the Receipt of any Money, upon Account, for the Payment of such Regiments, Troops, or Companies, as shall be certified under the General's Hand, as aforesaid; and the said Accompts to be taken upon such Muster Rolls as the Committee of the Army shall appoint.

Circuits.

Lord Commissioner Whitlock reports Mr. Serjeant Green to go the Circuit, in the place of Mr. Baron Gates.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of Mr. Serjeant Green to go this Circuit, in the place of Mr. Baron Gates, without incurring any Penalty by the Statute: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England be authorised and required to pass Commissions, under the Great Seal, to him accordingly.

Commissioners of Sewers, &c.

Ordered, That it be left in the Power of the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, to grant out Commissions of Sewers, and charitable Uses, to such fit Persons, as they shall think fit, as any Lord Chancellor, Lord Keeper, or Lords Commissioners, have, and ought to have Power to do, by any Act or Ordinance of Parliament; notwithstanding any Order to the contrary.

Army Arrears.

The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Amendments to the Act for securing the Arrears of the Soldiery.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee to whom this Act was referred, to bring in Instructions to be given to the Trustees and Contractors in this Bill, upon the Debate now had in the House.

Sir John Trevor, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Hill, Mr. Marten, Mr. Reynolds, Sir James Harrington, Colonel Vaughton, Lord Grey, Mr. Smith, be added to that Committee.

And the Care hereof is especially recommended to Mr. Weaver.
