Earl of Rutland, &c.
ORDERED, That it be referred to the Chief Justices of the Upper Bench and Common Pleas, and Chief Baron of the Exchequer, to examine the Business concerning the Minors in Darbysheire, and the Differences between them and the Earl of Rutland, and others; and to call all Parties concerned before them; and to state the Matter of Fact, with their Opinions; and to prepare an Act to be passed for settling the same, and Relief therein, as they shall conceive just: And that the said Referrees have Power to send for Persons, Papers, Records, as they shall see Cause.
Dutch Officers.
Sir William Brewerton reports from the Committee for the reduced Officers, the State of the Dutch Officers.
The Question being put, That this Business be taken into further Consideration;
It passed with the Negative.
Sir H. Owen.
Lieutenant General Crumwell reports from the Committee of Complaints, the Resolution of that Committee, touching Sir Hugh Owen; viz. That it be reported to the House, as the Opinion of the Committee, That Sir Hugh Owen is a Person comprised within the Articles of Anglesey; and accordingly ought to be discharged of Delinquency and Sequestration.
Resolved, &c. That, according to the Opinion of the said Committee, the said Sir Hugh Owen be discharged from Sequestration and Delinquency, for any thing before the Articles of Anglesey, dated the Fourteenth of June 1646.
Angleley Petition.
Colonel Wauton reports from the Council of State, the humble Petition of the Well-affected of the Isle and County of Anglesey: Which Petition was this Day read.
Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee of Anglesey; to hear the Parties; and consider of the whole Matter; and to state the same, and present their Opinions therein to the House; and also to prepare an Act for settling the Business of that County; and report it to the House: And that Colonel Jones, Mr. Humphrey Edwards, Lieutenant General Crumwell, Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Challenor, Colonel Harrison, Commissary General Ireton, Sir John Bourchier, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Lechmere, Colonel Thompson, Mr. Pury, Colonel Wauton, Mr. Stephens, Colonel Fleetwood, Colonel Feilder, Sir Wm. Masham, Colonel Ludlow, be added to that Committee: And are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber; and so de die in diem.
Articles.
Ordered, That the Committee for preparing the Act touching the Business of Articles, do meet at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber; and report the Act to the House with all Speed.
Dick's &c. Claim.
Mr. Miles Corbet reports from the Committee for stating the Business concerning Mr. Dick, and Mr. Cunningham, the State of the Business of the Lord Forbes, Mr. Dick, and Mr. Cunningham; and that it is the Opinion of that Committee, That Captain Dick and Mr. Cunningham, are intitled to have the Benefit of the Subscription of Seven thousand Pounds, by them subscribed, in pursuance of the Acts of Parliament, as the rest of the Subscribers for the additional Forces by Sea, for Reducing of Ireland, have.
Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee herein.
Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to consider and examine, How the State is satisfied, that Seven thousand Pounds, for which Captain Dick and Captain Cunningham is [to] have the Benefit of a Subscription of so much as other Subscribers for the additional Forces by Sea, and for reducing Ireland, are; and to report the same to the House.
Resolved, &c. That so much of the said Seven thousand Pounds as shall appear to be unpaid, or not performed by actual Service, by Captain Dick, and Captain Cunningham, shall be made good and satisfied out of the Monies due to Captain Dick and Captain Cunningham, from the Committee of the Navy, so far as it will go: And that the said Committee do prepare and present an Act to this House, for the Settling of this Business, accordingly.
The humble Petition of Alexander Lord Forbes was this Day read: And likewise an Abstract of the Lord Forbes his Case was read.
Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the same Committee, to consider and examine What doth remain justly due to the Lord Forbes: And that they take care, in the Act to be brought in, Provision be made for Payment of it, in Pursuance of these Votes: And that the same Committee do examine the original Contract with the Adventurers for the additional Forces for reducing Ireland, touching the Forty thousand Pounds, for which they have Security by Land, in Ireland; and how the said Forty thousand Pounds hath been satisfied by Service done according to that Contract; and report the whole State of that Transaction and Business to the House.
Judges.
Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal do make their Report touching fit Persons to be Judges, to fill up the several Benches in Westminster, To-morrow Morning.
