Prices of Victuals.

MR. Weaver reports Amendments to an Act for abating the Prices of Victuals and Corn: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, re-committed.

Chancery.

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England be authorized and required to pass under the Great Seal of England, in usual Form, with the Alterations agreed upon, a Commission unto William Lenthall Esquire, Speaker of the Parliament, and Master of the Rolls; Peter Phesent, one of the Justices of the Common Pleas; Phillipp Jermin, one of the Justices of the Upper Bench; Thomas Gates, one of the Barons of the Court of Exchequer; Sir Edward Leech Knight; John Page Esquire; Thomas Bennett, Robert Aylett, William Child, Thomas Heath, Doctors of the Civil Law; Edwyn Rich, John Sadler, William Hakewill, and Edward Eltonhead, Esquires, Masters of the Chancery; to hear and determine Causes in Chancery, in the Absence of the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, in usual Form: And that the said Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, do, from time to time, renew the Commission, to such other Justices of the Upper Bench and Common Pleas, and Barons of the Exchequer, as shall be made by Authority of Parliament, as they shall see Cause.

Information against a Preacher.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to examine the Misdemeanors of * Preacher at St. Mary Hill, near Billingsgate, upon the Information given against him, in stirring up the People to Sedition; and to take such Course therein as they shall think fit.

Clergy interfering with Politics.

Sir Arthur Heslerigg reports Amendments to an Act prohibiting Ministers and Preachers, in their Praying, Preaching, or Writing, to meddle with Matters of State: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, re-committed to the same Committee.

The Question being propounded, That it be referred to this Committee, to divide this Act into several Instruments; and to bring them in both at the same time.

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

So the main Question being put;

It was Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee who brought in the Act touching Ministers, to divide the said Act into several Instruments; and to bring them in both at the same time: And all the Members that shall come to this Committee to have Voices: And this Committee are to meet in the Speaker's Chamber, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Col. Lilborne, &c.

Ordered, That the Report be made from the Council of State touching Lieutenant Colonel Lilborne, Mr. Walwyn, and others, To-morrow Morning.

Army Arrears.

The Lord Grey reports from the Council of State, touching Two Companies at Coventrey, under John Brownell and Robert Beake.

Ordered, That the Committee of Warwicksheire and Coventrey have Power to levy such Monies, by an Assessment upon the County of Warwick, and the City and County of Coventry, as shall be requisite to pay unto the said Two Companies the Arrears for the time past; and continue their Payment, until they shall be thought fit, by the Council of State, to be disbanded; and to take care the same be paid accordingly.

Ordnance Labourers, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Army do satisfy and pay unto Twenty Labourers, Clerks, Proofmasters of Powder and Arms, and other inferior Officers, daily employed, Taking in and Delivering out of Stores for Land Service extraordinary (having received no Salary, this Six Years, from the Commonwealth), the Sum of Three hundred and Fourscore Pounds; and to distribute the same amongst them, as formerly the said Committee have done.

Commissioner of Assessment.

Ordered, That Mr. Thomas Butler be added a Commissioner for the Assessments of Ninety thousand Pounds per Mensem, in the County of Surrey.

Deans and Chapters Lands.

The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Amendments to the Bill touching Sale of the Lands of Deans and Chapters, &c.

Ordered, That this Debate be taken up To-morrow Morning, the first Business.
