Prayers.

Treaty with the King.

ORDERED, That the Lords Concurrence be desired, That the Votes passed both Houses, upon the King's Answer to the Propositions, which are not yet communicated to the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight, may be forthwith sent unto them: And that a Letter be prepared to convey these Votes unto the Commissioners accordingly.

Sir Wm. Lewes and Mr. Wheeler are appointed to prepare this Letter.

French Trade.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of many English Merchants, Citizens of London, trading to the Kingdom of France, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of the Navy; to consider of the Matters suggested in the Petition; and to inquire into the Truth thereof; and state and report it to the House: And have Power to hear Parties and Witnesses.

Col. Lilbourne.

Ordered, That, on Monday Morning next, the first Business, the Report be made, in Mr. Rigbie's Hands, concerning Lieutenant Colonel Lilbourne.

Treaty with the King.

The Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Order concerning the presenting the Catechisms to the King, was read; and assented unto; and was only, That these Words, "the shorter Catechism," might be inserted, instead of the Words "the Catechisms."

Mr. Bois is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire them to expedite their Consent to the larger Catechism.

Sir Wm. Lewes reports a Letter, to be sent to the Commissioners, to convey the Votes passed unto them: The which was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

Treaty with the King.

A Letter from the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight, of 2 Novembris 1648, and divers Papers inclosed; wherein they give an Account of their Proceedings upon the Informations and Instructions received touching the Proceedings of the Earl of Ormond, and upon the Resolutions and Instructions they had received touching the Proposition concerning the Church: The which were all read.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth concur with the Lords, in continuing the Treaty for Fourteen Days longer.

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Bois brings Answer, That the Lords will take the larger Catechism into speedy Consideration; and send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Loan by the City.

Ordered, That the Committee formerly appointed to take the Care of providing the Monies for the Expences of the Treaty, do meet; and take care, that the Remainder of the Ten thousand Pounds, if any be, may be speedily issued forth, and returned to the Isle of Wight: And that they do go to the Common Council, to be called to meet To-morrow at Three of Clock, and propound unto them the Loan of Four thousand Pounds, for the further carrying on the Affairs of the Treaty, upon the same Security propounded and given for the Loan of the former Ten thousand Pounds.

Mr. Dodderidge, Mr. Drake, and Colonel Copley, are particularly desired to take care of this Business.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor be desired to call a Common Council, to meet To-morrow at Three of Clock; and to acquaint them, That this House has appointed a Committee to come unto them, upon important Occasions.

Alderman Atkins is appointed to acquaint the Lord Mayor with this Order.

Treaty with the King.

Resolved, &c. That the King's Answer to the Desires of both Houses, for his declaring against the Proceedings of the Lord of Ormond in Ireland, is not satisfactory: And the Commissioners are hereby authorized and required to acquaint the King herewith; and to press him to a full Consent thereunto.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein: And that it be sent to the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight.

Sir Wm. Lewes is appointed to carry it to the Lords.

He is likewise to desire the Lords Concurrence, That the Vote upon the King's Answer to the Proposition concerning Ireland; upon his Answer to the Proposition concerning the Payment of publick Debts; upon his Answer to the Proposition concerning the Nomination of Officers; upon his Answer to the Proposition for taking away Wards and Liveries, &c.; the Order for presenting the shorter Catechism; the Vote for continuing the Treaty for Fourteen Days longer; may be forthwith sent to the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight.

He is further appointed to desire the Lords Concurrence, in the Letter this Day assented unto, for conveying these Votes to the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight.

Resolved, That Dr. Usher, Dr. Bromrick, Dr. Prideaux, Dr. Warner, Dr. Ferne, and Dr. Morely, shall have the Leave of both Houses to go to the King; and have Mr. Speaker's Passes to that Purpose.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Speaker do write his Letter to the Commissioners in the Isle of Wight; and acquaint them with the Vote for continuing the Treaty for Fourteen Days longer.

Resolved, &c. That the House do proceed de die in diem, in the Business of the Treaty, till it be expedited; and that no other Business do intervene; and that, Tomorrow, the House do resume the Debate touching Delinquents: And, that next after the Business of the Treaty, the Reports concerning the Army be made.

Sir J. Danvers.

Ordered, That Saturday-come-sevennight, the first Business the House do take into Consideration the whole Business and Report concerning Sir John Danvers.

New England.

Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning New England be read the Second time on Saturday Morning next.

Army.

Ordered, That the Order for the Committee of the whole House, sitting upon the Ordinance concerning the Officers, every Thursday, be revived: And that they do sit in a Committee upon that Ordinance, on Thursday Morning next, at Eight of Clock: And Mr. Speaker is not to take the Chair.

Privilege.

Ordered, That the Information given to the House touching some Words given out by one Captain Musgrave, threatning Danger to Mr. Speaker, be referred to the Examination and Consideration of the Committee of Complaints.

Murder of Rainborow.

Ordered, That it be especially recommended to Lieutenant General Crumwell, forthwith to make a strict and exact Scrutiny of the Manner of the horrid Murder of Colonel Rainborow; and to certify the same to the House.

Rainborow's Family.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, forthwith to pay unto the Widow of Colonel Rainborow, as well what was due unto him, upon the Publick Faith, as what is due and Arrear for his present Pay.

Ordered, That the Sum of One thousand Pounds be paid out of the Excise, in Course, with Interest, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, to be paid, every Six Months, unto Mr. Cornelius Holland, Captain Peter Peck, and Major Rainborow, to the Use of the Child or Children * * *.

Mr. Allen, and Mr. Holland are to bring in an Ordinance to this Purpose.

Commissioners in I. of Wight.

Resolved, &c. That the Commissioners now in the Isle of Wight have Power to agree among themselves, which of them shall come away, and attend the House; leaving Six there at least, whereof Three to be of the Quorum; videlicet, One Lord, and Two Commoners.
