Prayers.

Barker's Claims.

AN Ordinance for Payment of the Sum of Four thousand Nine hundred Twenty-six Pounds unto Colonel John Barker, for Entertainment of Pay, out of the Moiety of the Grand Excise, in Course, not yet disposed of, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. Wheeler is to carry it to the Lords.

Sleigh's Claims.

The humble Petition of John Sleigh Esquire, late Mayor of Barwick upon Tweed, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Six hundred Pounds be charged upon the Moiety of the Grand Excise, in Course, not yet disposed of; and paid unto John Sleigh Esquire, late Mayor of Barwick, his Executors or Assigns, with Interest for the same, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Cent. per Annum, to be paid to the said John Sleigh, his Executors or Assigns, every Six Months, for and towards the Pay of Six Shillings Eight-pence per diem, as Paymaster of the Garison of Barwick, and of his Disbursements for the Parliament Service, and his great Losses sustained for his good Service done for the Parliament.

Sir Thomas Widdrington is to bring in an Ordinance to this Purpose.

Wiltes Militia.

An Ordinance for settling the Militia of the County of Wiltes was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Knights and Burgesses of Wiltes, Hants, and Dorsetshire: And the said Committee are to bring it in with all convenient Speed.

Preacher appointed.

Ordered, That Mr. Ashe be desired to preach, instead of Mr. Herrick, on Thursday next, the Day of Publick Fast and Humiliation.

Mr. Gurdon is to speak to Mr. Ashe, to that Purpose.

Letter read.

A Letter from Sir Francis Drake, and others, from Deane House in Exon, of 4 Augusti 1648, was this Day read.

Affairs in Devon.

Ordered, That the Lord General be desired to take off, and countermand his Order from calling Sir Hardress Waller, and his Two Regiments, out of the West: And that they be permitted to continue there: And that a Letter, to be signed by Mr. Speaker, be sent to the Lord General, to that Purpose.

Mr. Dodderich is to prepare the Letter.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to see that the Brigade of Sir Hardres Waller in the County of Devon be paid out of the Assessments of the said County of Devon, or out of the Assessments in the Counties adjacent, by equal Portions, upon the Establishment already made for the Army under the Command of the General Thomas Lord Fairefax.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Army, to state the Business touching the Six thousand Pounds charged upon the County of Devon, to be paid to the Governor of Plymouth; and report the same to the House.

Ordered, That John Bury Esquire, John Fortescue Esquire, John Champneis Esquire, John Wollacombe Esquire, Robert Savery Esquire, William Bastard Esquire, John Quick Esquire, Henry Worth Esquire, Thomas Drake Esquire, Peter Beavyes Esquire, Richard Duck Esquire, Robert Duke Esquire, be added to the Committee of the Militia for the County of Devon.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Militia.

Sir Robert Harley reports the Amendments to the general Ordinance for the Militia of the whole Kingdom. Which Amendments were twice read; and, upon the Question, re-committed. And

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, To-morrow Morning, the first Business, upon the said Ordinance: And the Speaker is to forbear to take the Chair.

Call of the House.

Resolved, &c. That the House be Called this Day Sevennight: And that the like Order be made, for Calling the House that Day, as was made for Calling the House this Day.

Delinquents Estates.

An Ordinance for the further and better. Regulating of the Sequestrations of Papists and Delinquents Estates was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Wheeler carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, an Ordinance for pardoning the Delinquency of Sir John Glanville Serjeant at Law: And an Ordinance for Payment of the Sum of Four thousand Nine hundred-Twenty-six Pounds to Colonel Barker.

Answer.

Mr. Wheeler brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to both the said Ordinances.
