Prayers.

Sleigh's Petition.

ORDERED, That the Petition of John Sleigh Esquire, late Mayor of Berwicke upon Tweede, be read on Monday Morning next.

Halliburton's Pass.

Whereas Mr. Haliburton is returned from the Isle of Wight, with Letters from his Majesty to the Kingdom of Scottland: It is Ordered, That the said Mr. Halliburton do, by Tuesday next, depart the City of London, towards the Quarters of Major General Lambert: Who is hereby ordered to give unto the said Mr. Halliburton a Pass from thence to the Committee of Estates in Scotland: And Lieutenant Colonel Osborne and Captain Spencer are hereby required to accompany Mr. Halliburton to Major General Lambert's Quarters, as well for the Safety of Mr. Halliburton's Person, as to prevent any Prejudice to the Service of the Parliament.

Presbyterial Government.

Mr. Dodderidge reports the Amendments to the Ordinance for settling the Presbyterial Government: Which, being twice read, upon the Question, were agreed unto.

And the Ordinance, being put to the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. Swynfen, Mr. Dodderidge, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Wheeler, Sir Robert Harley, are to take care of this Business.

Publick Fast.

Whereas it hath pleased Almighty God, among other his heavy Judgments upon this Nation, to manifest his sore Displeasure against the Kingdom, by Abundance of Rain, and such unseasonable Weather, the like whereof hath scarce been known at this Season of the Year; by reason whereof the Corn, and other Fruits of the Earth are in Danger to be utterly spoiled, or rendered so unwholsome, as may produce a general Dearth and Mortality: In Consideration whereof, the Lords and Commons have thought fit to set apart a Day for Solemn Humiliation, and Seeking of the Lord, for averting this and other his most heavy Judgments; and do thereupon Order, That Thursday next, being the Tenth of August, be appointed for this Purpose; and be observed within the Cities of London, Westminster, and late Lines of Communication, and Bills of Mortality: And the Lord Mayor of the City of London is desired to give present Notice to all the Ministers accordingly.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Preachers appointed.

Ordered, That Mr. Marshall, Mr. Herricke, and Mr. Carrall, be desired to preach before the House of Commons, at Margarett's, Westminster, on Thursday next, being the Day appointed for Publick Fasting and Humiliation.

Mr. Crowther is to speak to Mr. Marshall; and Mr. Moore to speak to Mr. Carrall, and Mr. Herricke.

Offices held by Members.

Ordered, That, on Wednesday next, the House do take into Debate the Offices conferred upon Members of the House; and other Profits received by any Member of the House.

Receivers to accompt.

An Ordinance for all Persons that have received the Publick Treasure, to accompt, upon Oath, for the same, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the same Committee to whom the said Ordinance was formerly committed.

Ly. Harris' Pass.

Ordered, That the Lady Elizabeth Harris, and her Grandchild Arthure Denny, and Two Servants, have Leave to go from London to the Province of Munster, in Ireland: And that Mr. Speaker do grant them his Pass for that Purpose.

Delinquents Estates.

Ordered, That the Committee where Colonel Moore hath the Chair, do take care, upon the Debate Yesterday, upon the Regulating of Sequestrations of Papists and Delinquents Estates, to present some thing to the House, whereby the said Sequestrations may be regulated, and the Abuses touching the same reformed; and report the same on Tuesday Morning next: And that Colonel Thompson be added to that Committee.

City Business.

Ordered, That Sir Walter Erle do, on Tuesday Morning next, report the Business from the City.

Glanvile's Delinquency.

An Ordinance for Accepting of the Fine, and of Two thousand Three hundred Twenty Pounds, for the Composition for the Delinquency of Sir John Glanvile Knight, Serjeant at Law, and for Pardoning of his Delinquency, was this Day read; and upon the Question, passed; and ordered to sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Relief of Lyme Regis.

The humble Petition of the distressed Inhabitants of the Town of Lyme Regis in the County of Dorsett, was this Day read.

Ordered, upon reading of the humble Petition of the Mayor and Burgesses of the Town of Lime Regis in the County of Dorsett, concerning their great Losses sustained in the late great Siege, by the Forces under Prince Maurice, whereby their Houses and Ships were burnt and destroyed, That Two thousand Oaks be, and are hereby given to the Mayor and Corporation of the Town of Lime Regis, for Re-edifying and Building of their Houses and Ships, Mills, and Fulling Racks for Cloth, burnt and lost in the Siege of the said Town by Prince Maurice, out of the Woods and Grounds of the Lord Pawlett, and Sir John Pawlett: And that the Mayor for the Time being, and the Corporation, or the greater Part of them, and their Assignee or Assignees, do fell, cut down, and from time to time carry away, with Horse and Plough, all such Timber and Wood so felled: And that the Mayor for the Time being, and the Burgesses of the Corporation, have all the Rents and Profits of the sequestered Lands of the Lord Pawlett, and Sir John Pawlett his Son (excepting so much of the Sum of One thousand Five hundred Pounds as is unpaid and bestowed, which was granted heretosore, by Ordinance, out . . the Lands of the Lord Pawlett's Estate, unto the Lady Drake), towards the Reparations of their Losses and Damages sustained by the said great Siege: And the Sequestrators of the several Counties are to take Notice hereof, and to give Obedience thereunto: And the Sequestrators, and all others who shall be employed in executing of this Order, shall be secured, and kept indemnified, by Authority of this House.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Dove carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Order, That the Forces in Dover Castle be commanded by the Militia of the County of Kent: An Order to consider how far the Forces in the Garison of Dover may be made use of for the Service of the County of Kent: An Order for a Troop of Horse, and a Company of Foot, to be added to the Companies in Dover Castle: An Order for Four Shillings the Chaldron to be imposed upon Coals, Grinstones, and Salt: An Order for Payment of Five Pounds a Week to Colonel Nicholas Devoreux: An Order for Robert Harvey to pay One hundred Marks to Colonel Devereux: An Order for Payment of Three thousand Pounds to the Soldiers of Sencroft, late under the Command of the Lord Fairefax, deceased: An Order for the Payment of the Interest of Three thousand Five hundred Twenty-six Pounds Twelve Shillings to One hundred Fourteen reduced Officers, late under the Lord Fairfax, deceased, out of Delinquents Estates: Order for Four thousand Pounds for reduced Officers late under the Command of the Lord Fairefax, deceased: An Order for Payment of the said reduced Officers Three thousand Five hundred Twenty-six Pounds, out of the Excise, in Course: Order for Adam Eyre, and others, to receive the said Sums of Money, ordered to be paid to the reduced Officers, under the late Lord Fairefax: Order for One hundred Seventy-five Pounds to be paid to Mrs. Martha Pigott, by Five Pounds the Week, out of Haberdashers Hall: An Order for a Day of Publick Humiliation on Thursday next.
