Prayers.

Lancaster Sequestrations.

AN Ordinance for adding some Gentlemen of the County of Lancaster to the Committee of Sequestrations in the County of Westmerland; and for raising Four thousand Pounds, out of the Sequestrations of the said County, for Pay of the Lancashire Forces under the Command of Colonel Ralph Ashton; was this Day read the First time; and, upon the Question, passed: and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Reduced Officers, &c.

The humble Petition of the reduced inferior Officers and Soldiers, whose Names are subscribed, in the Behalf of themselves, and their Fellow Soldiers, the Names of whom are inserted in the Book remaining in this Honourable House, preferred the 15th of March last, by their known Agent and Fellow Soldier, Captain James Heart, was this Day read.

Army Accompts.

Mr. Scott reports the Amendments to the Ordinance for stating the Accompts of the Soldiery of the Kingdom: The which were twice read; and, upon the Question re-committed to the former Committee, with the Addition of Sir Wm. Brereton, and Colonel Venne: Who are presently to withdraw upon it.

Auditors Salaries.

An Ordinance for allowing a Salary to the Auditors employed in the stating and determining the Accompts of the Soldiery was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the former Committee: With Power to the said Committee to fill up the Blanks, as to the Salaries and Time of Continuance of the Ordinance.

Suppressing Tumults.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, That they do and shall accept it as an acceptable Service in all and every such Person or Persons as have risen, or shall rise and act, in order to the Opposing and Suppressing of all Insurrections and Tumults that shall be raised against the Parliament, to the Endangering of the Peace of the Kingdom.

Ordered to be forthwith printed.

Affairs in Essex.

The House of Commons taking into Consideration the Propositions lately tendered unto them from divers of the Gentlemen of the County of Essex, attending the Service of the County with the Army now about Colchester, do Order, That an Ordinance of Parliament be brought in by Sir Harbottle Grimston, and Sir Martin Lumley, for the Raising of One Month's Pay more upon the said County: And that the standing Committee for the said County of Essex, sitting at Chelmesford, do forthwith raise Two Troops of Horse, and one Company of Dragoons, for the future settling the Peace of the said County: Which being done, the House will then take it further into Consideration (if Occasion shall so require) the Raising of more Forces; as also the charging the said County with such further Sums, as shall be conceived proportionable for the maintaining such Forces.

Letter read.

A Letter from the Committee of Essex at the Leaguer before Colchester, of 4 Julii 1648, was this Day read.

French Resident's Pass.

A Letter from the Commissioners of England, from Edenburgh in Scotland, of 27 Julii 1648; with Papers inclosed, of 17 Junii, and 22 Junii; and the Copy of the Pass given by them to Monsieur de Montereul, the French King's Resident, to pass through England to London; were this Day read.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Vassall carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, an Ordinance for Payment of Four thousand Pounds to Colonel Ralph Ashton senior, out of the Sequestrations in Westmorland: An Order for the Exchange of the Lord Inchiquin's Son for Sir Wm. Fenton, and others: Order for releasing Colonel Zachary out of Prison: Order for granting Commissions to Captain Wm. Boteler, and others, in the County of Northampton: The Order for joining the Militias of London, Westminster, and Hamlets.

Transactions with Scotland.

Ordered, That all the Letters and Papers from the Commissioners of England in Scotland, delivered by them to the Parliament of Scotland, or Committee of Estates; and such Letters and Papers as they have received from the Parliament of Scotland, or Committee of Estates, and communicated to this House; be forthwith printed and published: And Mr. Swynfen, Mr. Sallwey junior, Sir Walter Erle, and Colonel White, are appointed to take care of the Printing thereof accordingly.

Sheriff of London.

Ordered, That this House do give Leave to Major General Browne to be Sheriff of the City of London, according to the Desire of the City.

Browne's Claims.

Ordered, That Interest, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Cent. be allowed unto Major General Browne for the Sum of Nine thousand and Sixteen Pounds, due to him by the Parliament; and paid to him, or his Assigns: And that the Interest for the Sum of Five thousand Pounds, Part of the said Debt, be charged upon the Excise, in Course: And that the Interest of Four thousand and Sixteen Pounds, Residue of the said Debt, be charged upon Goldsmiths Hall: And that the Payment of the said Interest do commence from the Sixth Day of March last past.

Mr. Dodderidge is to prepare and bring in an Ordinance for that Purpose.

Raising Horses.

Ordered, That the Monies subscribed for Raising of Horses, by the Members of the House, for Defence of the Parliament, be paid to Mr. Frost, this Afternoon, at Derby House: And that the Acquittance of Mr. Frost, testifying the Receipt thereof, be sufficient Discharge for Payment thereof.

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Vassall brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to all the Particulars of the Message carried by him to them.

Army Quarters.

Mr. Knightley reports from the Committee at Derby House, the Opinion of the said Committee, touching the Place to be appointed for a Quarter both for Men and Horse, that are to serve under Colonel Boteler, and Quartermaster General Fincher.

Ordered, That this House do agree with the said Committee, That the Mewes be appointed for a Quarter, both for Men and Horse, that are to serve under Colonel Boteler, and Quartermaster General Fincher.

Netherlands.

Ordered, That Sir John Temple do bring in the Declaration touching the Netherlands, To-morrow Morning, the first Business.
