Prayers.

Judges to go Circuits.

ORDERED, That the Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do take Notice of the Circuits, and present the Names of such Judges to this House as are to be chosen for riding the several Circuits.

Ld. Forbes' Claims.

Mr. Priestly reports from the Committee of Lords and Commons in Ireland, the Opinion of the said Committee, touching the Petition of the Lord Forbes.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, forthwith to pay to the Lord Forbes the Sum of Six hundred and Two Pounds, being Part of the Lord Forbes his Accompt for Victuals, Arms, Ammunition, &c. out of the Monies due to Captain Dicks, remaining in the Hands of the Committee of the Navy.

Reports to be made.

Ordered, That Mr. Ashe do report, To-morrow Morning at Eight of Clock, from Goldsmiths Hall, until Ten of Clock; and so every Morning, from Eight till Ten a Clock: And that, after these Reports, the Reports from Haberdashers Hall be made.

Ld. Forbes.

Ordered, That this Day Sevennight, the Remainder of the Report, touching the Lord Forbes, be made; and Consideration taken thereof.

Meldrum's Claims.

The humble Petition of Jane Meldrum Widow, late Wife of Colonel John Mildrum deceased, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds be forthwith paid unto Jane Meldrum Widow, late Wife of Colonel John Mildrum, slain in the Parliament Service, over and above the Sum of One hundred Pounds formerly ordered unto her, and charged upon the Excise, in full Satisfaction and Discharge of all Sums of Money, Accompts, and Demands, due or claimable by her, in Right of her deceased Husband: And that the said Sum of Two hundred Pounds be charged upon Haberdashsrs Hall, and to the said Jane Mildrum, or her Assigns, by Order of the Committee of Lords and Commons usually sitting there.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Tumults in Cambridge.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the University of Cambridge, to consider of the Tumults and Insurrections in the Town of Cambridge; and to consider of some effectual Course for suppressing thereof, and to prevent the like for the future; and report the same to the House.

Torrington Church.

An Ordinance, that a Grant be prepared, and passed, under the Great Seal of England, to the Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council, of the Town of Great Torrington in the County of Devon, for a general Collection, for Reparation of the great Church of the said Town, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Grant to Ld. Cawfield.

The humble Petition of the Lord Cawfield was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Sum of Two hundred Pounds be forthwith advanced and paid to the Lord Cawfeild, towards his Losses in Ireland, and for his present Subsistence: And that the same be charged upon Haberdashers Hall: And.. is especially recommended to the said Committee, to make speedy Payment thereof, in regard of the great Exigencies that lie so heavy upon him.

Pontefract Castle.

A Letter from York, of the 9th of June 1648, from Francis Lord Viscount Valentia, and others was this Day read.

The humble Petition of divers supernumerary Yorkshire Officers was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Letter from York, from Francis Lord Viscount Valentia, and others, of the Ninth of June 1648, be referred to the Committee at Derby House: And that the said Committee do take some speedy Consideration of the Castle of Pontefract, and of those Parts: And that the Gentlemen of Yorkshire do repair to the said Committee with the said Letter, and give their Advice concerning those Parts.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Boulton a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Cole's Fine.

Ordered, That Mr. Ralph Cole do forthwith pay Fifteen hundred Pounds more, as Part of his Fine, for his Composition, for the Relief of Newcastle, to Sir Arthur Hesilrige Governor thereof: Then this House will refer it to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall, to review... Fine set upon him for his Delinquency.

York Militia.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Allenson be added to the Committee of the Militia for the County of York.

Newcastle Garison.

A Letter from Newcastle, touching the Garison there, from the Mayor and Corporation of the Town of Newcastle, of 1 Junii 1648, was read.

A Letter from the Mayor and Common Council of Newcastle, from Newcastle, of the Eighth of June 1648, was read.

Message to Lords.

Sir John Hippisly carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, Ordinance for Payment of divers Sums of Money to divers Officers of Cumberland: Ordinance for Relief of Torrington, by a general Collection: Order for Thirty Pounds to the Messenger that brought Sir Thomas Peyton and Mr. Swan Prisoners to Town.

Sir John Trevor carried to the Lords Two Orders for Pay of Monies to divers Messengers, that brought the News of good Successes in Wales and Kent: The Amendments to the Ordinance for making Mr. Wm. Hawkins Commissary General for Ireland.

Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired in the Vote, passed on Saturday last, for referring the Consideration of the Safety of North Wales to the Committee at Derby House: And that it be referred to the Committee at Derby House to give Commissions for those Officers.

Sir John Trevor carried this Order to the Lords.

He likewise carried the Vote for making Mr. Thomas Madryn Sheriff of Carnarvonshire.

Raising Forces in Wales.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee at Derby House, to grant Commissions to the Gentlemen in North Wales, to enable them to raise Forces to defend the Country, and suppress Insurrections, and to keep the Peace of the County.

Assessments.

Ordered, That the Knights and Burgesses of the several Counties, Cities, and Places, within the Kingdom of England, and Dominions of Wales, and the Citizens and the Burgesses of the City of London, do take the best, speediest, and most effectual Course they can for the due and speedy bringing in the Assessments in the several Counties, Cities, and Places, due to the Army, and the Arrears thereof: And they are respectively enjoined to use their best Diligence in this Service, and to give Notice of their Proceedings herein to the House on this Day Fortnight.

Quartering Forces.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Army do write unto the Commanders in Chief of the Forces of the Army, in the several Counties, to observe strictly that they quarter no Forces upon any but such as shall not pay in their Assessments, according to former Instructions and Ordinances.

Lancashire Forces.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Gentlemen of Lancashire, to consider of some Way for satisfying the Engagements of the Gentlemen of Lancashire undertaken for raising and setting forth their Forces into Westmerland; and to report their Opinions to the House.

Newcastle Garison.

Ordered, That the Letters from the Town of Newcastle, of the First and Eighth of June, be referred to the Committee of the Army; to take the best Care they can for supplying them with Monies, Arms and Ammunition.

Bland's Claims.

Upon Sir Wm. Armyn's Report from the Committee at Derby House;

It is Ordered, That in case the Receipts of the County of York, do not reimburse Mr. Bland the Monies advanced by him for the Service of the Isle of Wight, that then it be charged upon the first Monies arising out of any Part of the Revenue; And that the Committee of the Revenue do give special Order for the same accordingly.

Answer from Lords.

Sir John Trecor brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to all the Particulars of the Message carried.... him.

Forces of Exeter.

Ordered, That the Letter and Papers, sent from Sir Hardres Waller, by his Lieutenant Colonel, be referred to the Committee formerly appointed to examine the Business concerning Sir Hardres Waller, and his Soldiers Carriage at Exeter: And that the said Lieutenant Colonel do likewise attend the said Committee.

Thanks to Lancaster County.

Ordered, That Colonel Holcroft do prepare a Letter of Thanks, to be signed by Mr. Speaker, and sent to Mr. Richard Holland, and other the Gentlemen of the County of Lancaster, for their ready and seasonable Assistance given to the Forces of Yorkshire.

Answer from Lords.

Sir John Hippisley, brings Answer, That the Lords, do agree to all the Particulars of the Message by him carried to them.

Officers Arrears.

Mr. Nelthropp reports from the Committee of the Northern Association.

Ordered, That the List of the reduced Officers of Ferdinando late Lord Fairefax, and a Paper, now delivered in by some of the said Officers, be referred to the Committee for the Northern Association; to consider thereof; and how ... in what Manner, to provide Money, for Satisfaction of their Arrears; and where the said Monies shall be charged; and to report the same to the House on Thursday next.

Militia.

Ordered, That, on Wednesday, the first Business, peremptorily, nothing to intervene, the Order for settling the Militia of the Kingdom be read.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Hakewill and Mr. Page;

The Lords have sent unto you a List, from the Committee of the Revenue, touching the Duke of York his Servants, and Allowances for the Duke of Gloucester; and their Lordships Order thereupon: Wherein they desire the Concurrence of this House: And Three Petitions; the Lord Crawfield's, Major Elsyng's, and the Officers from Ireland, the Field Officers and Captains: Which they desire this House to take into Consideration:- A Petition of divers Officers and Soldiers, signifying their Willingness to assist the Parliament.

The Lords command us to put this House in mind of the Petitions of the Lord Herbert of Cherbury, the Lord Cromwell's, and Mr. Pigott's.

Duke of Gloucester.

The Report of the Committee of the Revenue, touching the Duke of Gloucester, was as followeth:

" In pursuance of an Order of both Houses, of the First of this Month;"

" Ordered, and it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the Servants and Allowances here underwritten are necessary to be added for the Service of the Duke of Gloucester: And we desire the Earl of Pembroke to propose them to the House of Peers accordingly."

" Mr. Samuell to wait on the Duke of Gloucester; and to have the same Allowances as he had for his waiting on the Duke of Yorke."

" Mr. Siddenham to wait as Carver on the Duke of Gloucester; and to have the same Allowances as he had as Carver to the Duke of Yorke."

" Mr. Owen to be Page to the Duke of Gloucester; and to have the same Allowances as he had as Page to the Duke of Yorke."

" There being formerly Two Chaplains, and at present there is but One; the Houses to be moved, That one other be appointed, or that some Divines be appointed to preach by Turns."

" That it be proposed, That Dr. Colidon be appointed Physician, with an Allowance of One hundred Pounds per Annum, if the House shall think fit."

"Henry Rice, Closetkeeper to the Duke of Yorke, to be continued Closetkeeper to the Duke of Gloucester."

" One of the Duke of Yorke's Footmen to be added to the Duke of Gloucester."

" One Groom of the Stable of the Duke of Yorke's to be added to the Duke of Gloucester's."

" Five Saddle Horses to be added for the Duke of Gloucester's Service, and for such Servants as shall attend him abroad."

" That an additional Allowance may be set down for to provide Linen, there being need of a Supply, the Linen being omitted in the former Establishment.

" Four inferior Servants to be added for the Service of the Duke of Gloucester."

A List of the Duke of Yorke's Servants, that are necessary to be continued as additional Servants to attend the Duke of Gloucester.

A List of Servants necessary to be added to attend the Duke of Gloucester, besides those Servants above mentioned, that did attend the Duke of Yorke.

The Particulars of the additional Allowances.

Ordered, by the Commons, assembled in Parliament, That they do agree with the Lords, and approve of what the Committee of the Revenue have thought fit to be added for the Duke of Gloucester: And that these additional Allowances, and the former, be paid to the Earl of Northumberlund, next after the Expences of the King's own Houshold, and the ordinary Charges of the Forts, before any other Payment out of the King's Revenue: And the Committee for the Revenues is to take care to see the same done accordingly.

Duke of York's Servants.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the King's Revenue, to consider of such Gratuities as shall be thought fit for such of the Duke of Yorke's Servants as are now fully to be discharged.
