Prayers.

Delinquents Debts.

AN Ordinance for the Satisfying of just Debts, due and owing unto all well-affected Persons, who have adhered unto the Parliament, by Delinquents, whose Estates are under Sequestration for their Delinquency, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the same Committee that brought it in: And are to meet upon it, this Afternoon at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards; and so de die in diem, until the Business be dispatched.

Transactions with Scotland.

Mr. Annesley reports a Letter to be sent to the Parliament of Scotland: The which was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence; and to be signed by the Speakers of both Houses.

Comm rs of Customs.

An Ordinance for reimbursing the Commissioners of the Customs the Sum of Twenty thousand Pounds, advanced by them for the Service of the Navy, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Mr. Green is appointed to carry it to the Lords.

Sheriffs Accompts.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for passing the Sheriffs Accompts be read on Saturday Morning next, the first Business.

Duke of York.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Revenue, touching the Duke of York, be made on Saturday Morning next, the first Business.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Stephens carried to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Ordinance for settling the Militia in the Counties of Gloucester, Monmouth, Brecon, and Glamorgan: And the Order for Payment of Five hundred Pounds to Colonel Hamond.

Answer.

Mr. Stephens brings Answer; That the Lords do agree to the Order for Payment of Five hundred Pounds to Colonel Hamond: To the rest they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

London Militia.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons, in Common Council assembled, be hereby authorized to nominate and present, to both Houses of Parliament, such Persons as they shall think fit to be a Committee for the Militia of the City of London, and the Liberties thereof, to be approved of by the said Houses.

Comm rs to Scotland.

An Instruction for Charles Earl of Nottingham, Henry Earl of Stamford, Bryan Stapilton, Robert Goodwin, Wm. Ashhurst, and John Birch, Esquires, Commissioners from the Parliament of England.

YOU, or any Two of you, are to signify to the Parliament of Scotland, That the Two Houses of the Parliament of England have received their Letter, with their Paper of Desires inclosed; the said Letter being addressed "To the Right Honourable the Speaker of the House of Peers, pro tempore; to be communicated to the Lords and Commons, assembled in . . Parliament of England at Westminster:" That the Houses take Notice of, and very much resent, this unusual Address; it being not the Stile which hath been and is used to the Houses of this Parliament.

Victory in Wales.

A Letter from Colonel Horton, of the Eighth of May 1648, from the Field, relating a very great Victory it has pleased God to bestow upon the Forces under his Command, in totally routing and overthrowing all the Forces in South Wales, was this Day read.

Major Bethell and Captain Mercer, who brought this Letter, were called in; and did make a full Relation of all the Proceedings of the great Victory obtained, by the great Mercy of God, against all the Enemies in South Wales.

Thanksgiving Day.

Resolved, &c. That Wednesday next be appointed for a Day of Publick Thanksgiving to Almighty God, for his great Mercy and Blessing, in giving so great and seasonable a Victory to the Parliament Forces, under the Command of Colonel Horton, over all the Forces of the Enemy in South Wales, on Monday the Eighth of this instant May 1648; to be observed within the City of London, and Liberties thereof, late Lines of Communication, and weekly Bills of Mortality: And that the Lord Mayor be desired to give timely Notice hereof to all the Ministers within the Places aforesaid.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Resolved, &c. That Wednesday next come Three Weeks be appointed for a Day of Publick Thanksgiving to Almighty God, for his great Mercy and Blessing, in giving so great and seasonable a Victory to the Parliament Forces under the Command of Colonel Horton, over all the Forces of the Enemy in South Wales, on Monday the Eighth of this instant May 1648; to be observed in all the Places throughout the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales: And that the Members of this House do send Copies of this Order into the several respective Places for which they serve.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Preachers appointed.

Ordered, That Mr. Marshall and Mr. Bridge be desired to preach before the Commons, on Wednesday next, appointed for a Day of Publick Thanksgiving, for the great Victory obtained against the Forces of the Enemy in South Wales, on Monday the Eighth of this instant May 1648.

Sir Wm. Massam is appointed to acquaint Mr. Marshall with this Order; and Mr. Myles Corbett, Mr. Bridge.

Grants to Bethell, &c.

Ordered, That the Sum of One hundred and Fifty Pounds be bestowed upon, and paid unto, Major Bethell; and the Sum of One hundred Pounds bestowed upon, and paid unto, Captain Mercer; for their good Service, and the great News that they brought of the seasonable Victory obtained in South Wales: And that so much of the Monies as are brought up, due, as the Fees to Mr. Speaker, late one of the Chancellors of the Duchy, be paid, proportionably, to the said Major Bethell and Captain Mercer, in Part of the said Two hundred and Fifty Pounds: And that the Sum of One hundred and Fifty Pounds be charged upon the Committee of the Revenue, and forthwith paid by that Committee to the said Major Bethell and Captain Mercer, proportionably.

Wogan's Accompts.

Ordered, That the State of Captain Wogan's Accompts be forthwith brought in, and taken into Consideration for the Satisfying thereof.

Scotts Papers.

Ordered, That the Scotts Papers, ordered to be considered this Day, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Prisoners taken in Wales.

Ordered, That the General do give Order, That such of the Commanders as are taken Prisoners at the late Rout in South Wales, that may be tried by Martial Law, may be brought to the Head Quarters, and proceeded against by Martial Law speedily: And that he certify the House the Names of those Prisoners as cannot be tried by Martial Law.

Attainting Jenkins.

Sir Henry Mildmay is appointed to go to the Lords, To-morrow, to desire them to pass the Ordinance for Attainting of Mr. David Jenkins.

Catechism.

Ordered, That no Man do print any Copies of the late Catechism presented from the Assembly of Divines, without Order and Licence of this House: And that Mr. Byfield do take care hereof.

Grant to Horton, &c.

Mr. Nath. Stephens, Mr. Reynolds, Major General Skippon, Mr. Myles Corbett, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Annesley, Mr. John Stephens, Mr. Wm. Stephens, Mr. Povey, Mr. Pury, Mr. John Corbett, Mr. Say, Mr. James Challoner, Dr. Palmer, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Carey;

This Committee, or any Three or more of them, are appointed to bring in an Ordinance for the making Sale of the Lands formerly granted, by Ordinance of Parliament, unto Major General Lahorne: And that the Proceed thereof be bestowed as a Reward upon Colonel Horton, and the Officers and Soldiers of his Brigade; who, by God's Blessing upon their Engagement, obtained a great Victory in South Wales, on Monday the Eighth of this instant May 1648.

It is further Ordered, That Power be given, by the said Ordinance, to make Sale of Lands to the Value of One thousand Pounds a Year more, of such Delinquents Estates as had any Hand in this Business: And that the Proceed thereof also be disposed of as a Reward to the said Colonel Horton, and the Officers and Soldiers of his Brigade: And the said Committee are to sit this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber; and so de die in diem: And have Power to send for Witnesses, Parties, Papers, and Records: And the said Committee are also to prepare and bring in a Declaration to prevent all Engagements in a War, Commotion, or Insurrection, against the Parliament, by declaring, That the Parties engaging must expect no Mercy.

Ordered, That Mr. Herbert do prepare a Letter, to be signed by Mr. Speaker, of Thanks, to be given to Colonel Horton, and the Officers and Soldiers of his Brigade, for their gallant Service performed in the late Victory obtained against the Enemies Forces in South Wales.
