PRAYERS.

Providing for Army.

THE Grand Committee sat, to take into Consideration the providing for the Army; that no Free Quarter may be taken.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Wills, Mr. Fowell, and Mr. Clive, Members of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country for Six Weeks.

Victory in Ireland, &c.

Captain Pigott, who brought the Letters from the Lord Inchiquin, of the great Victory gained against the Lord Taaff, was called into the House; and delivered a Bag of Letters that were taken in the Lord Taaff's Cabinet. He made likewise a Relation, by Word of Mouth, of the Battle and Victory obtained by the Lord Inchiquin, against an Army of the Rebels, under the Command of the Lord Taaff.

Two of the Letters, that were written from George Lord Digby to the Lord Taaff, of the Twentieth of August, and of the Last of August, 1647, were read.

Grant to Lord Inchiquin, &c.

Resolved, &c. That the Sum of One thousand Pounds be bestowed as a Gratuity upon the Lord Inchiquin, to buy him Horses, in Acknowledgment of his good and faithful Services to the Parliament: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, at Derby House, to consider, and bring in some Way and Place where this Sum of One thousand Pounds may be settled and issue.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Officers, &c. thanked.

Ordered, That a Letter of Thanks be sent to the Lord Inchiquin; and he desired to thank the rest of his Officers; And that it be referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, at Derby House, to prepare this Letter, to be sent from both Houses, and signed by the Speakers of both Houses.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Officers Indemnity.

A Letter to be sent to the Lord Inchiquin's Officers, touching their Indemnity as to their late general Engagement, was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Supply for Munster.

Resolved, &c. That, out of the first Monies to be designed for Ireland, the Sum of Ten thousand Pounds be appointed and assigned for the Province of Munster in Ireland, to be so settled, as may be a Stock of Credit for a present Supply of the Wants of that Province.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That, on Friday next, the House do take into Consideration the Reports concerning Ireland, and the Providing of Monies for the Service thereof.

Merchants Adventurers Claims.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth allow of the Demand of the Merchants Adventurers, of the Sum of Fifteen hundred Fifty-four Pounds, for their Expences upon the several Treaties, which continued almost Two Years: And that the said Sum of Fifteen hundred Fifty-four Pounds be added to the other Demands of the Merchants Adventurers, allowed by this House, and made a Debt from the Parliament.

An Ordinance for securing and repaying, to the Fellowship of Merchants Adventurers, the Sums of Fifteen thousand Pounds, and of Eight thousand Eight hundred and Four Pounds, advanced for and disbursed in the Service of the Parliament, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Haake's Petition.

Ordered, That Mr. Theodore Haake's Petition, who was employed into Denmark, be read the first Day after the Expiration of the Fourteen Days, wherein no private Business is to be considered.

Eastern Association.

An Ordinance for securing and repaying unto the Eastern Association Twenty thousand Pounds, forborne and lent by them for the Service of the Army, and for vacating a former Ordinance lately passed both Houses for securing and repaying the said Twenty thousand Pounds, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

Excise Advances.

Ordered, That Mr. Scawen do, To-morrow, bring in an Ordinance for securing Five thousand Pounds, advanced by the Commissioners of Excise for the Service of the Army.
