Leave of Absence.

ORDERED, That Mr. John Arundell, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country for Six Weeks.

Committee of Accompts.

An Ordinance for defraying the Salaries of the Officers, and necessary incident Charges of the Committee and Sub Committees, for taking the Accompts of the whole Kingdom, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. John Stephens, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Rolle, Mr. Knightley, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Long, Mr. Nath. Stephens, Sir John Francklyn, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Stapilton, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Lane, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Priesily, Sir John Seymour, Mr. Hill, Mr. Whitelock, Mr. Gourdon, Mr. Dove, Mr. Oldisworth, Sir Wm. Allenson, Mr. Challoner, Sir Nath. Barnardiston, Mr. Myles Corbett, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Shuttleworth, Captain Wingate, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Pury, Colonel Rosseter, Sir John Hippisley, Mr. Bond, Mr. Strode, Mr. Maynard; or any Five of them: And are to meet on Monday next, at Two post meridiem, in the Court of Wards: And the Consideration of Auditor Broad and Auditor Wilcox is referred to this Committee.

It is further referred to this Committee, to take into Consideration the Information given, That malignant Persons are made Sub Committees in the several Counties; and to prevent the Inconveniencies arising thereby.

London Arrears. &c.

A Letter from the General, from Kingston, of 19Novembris 1647, directed to Mr. Scawen, in the Chair of the Committee of the Army, was this Day read; signifying the Order he has given for a Regiment of Foot under Colonel Hewson to come and quarter in the City, and be directed by the Committee of the Army, in the Service of bringing in the Arrears upon the City.

Resolved, &c. That Lieutenant General Cromwell be desired to give Order and Directions to Colonel Hewson to make Stay of the March of his Regiment into the City for the present.

Resolved, &c. That the Lords be acquainted with this Letter; and desired to appoint a Committee to join with a Committee of a proportionable Number of this House, to go to the Common Council presently, to acquaint them with this Letter, and with the Inconvenieuces that must necessary follow, if effectual Course be not taken, for speedy paying the Arrears due.

Sir Henry Mildmay went to the Lords with this Message.

Alderman Pennyngton and Colonel Venne are appointed to go to the Lord Mayor, to desire him to call a Common Council to meet this Afternoon; in regard the Houses have appointed a Committee to come unto them, to communicate some Matters of near Concernment unto them.

The Committee to be appointed to go to the CommonCouncil are to press it earnestly, that the City may take speedy and effectual Course for levying and bringing in Six Months Assessments upon the Ordinance of Sixty thousand Pounds per mensem, like as the Countries do.

Fee Farm Rents.

An Ordinance for the Discharge of the Arrears of Fee Farm Rents and other Rents, due from the well-affected Party, who have been plundered, or otherwise deprived of the Profits of their Lands, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the same Committee that brought it in: And all that will come are to have Voices: And are to meet on Monday next, at Two post meridiem, in the Exchequer Court: And the Care of this Business is more particularly referred to Mr. Lislebone Long.

Message to Lords.

Sir Henry Mildmay went to the Lords with the Message concerning a Committee to go with the Propositions: And was to acquaint the Lords, That this House has appointed a Committee of a proportionable Number to join with the Lords, to examine the Business concerning the London Agents: And that this House has agreed, that the Papers, sent from the Lords, that were sent to them from Nottingham, touching the London Agents, be referred to that Committee.

Answer.

Sir Henry Mildmay brings Answer, That the Lords have appointed a Committee of Six to go to the Common Council this Afternoon at Three of Clock, as is desired: To the rest of the Message they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

London Arrears.

Mr. Humfrey Edwards, Sir Walter Erle, Alderman Atkyn, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Beding field, Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. John Ashe, Mr. Edw. Ashe, Mr. Erle, Mr. Bond, Alderman Pennington, Colonel Venne;

This Committee is appointed to meet with a Committee of a proportionable Number of the Lords, to go to the City this Afternoon at Three of Clock; to acquaint them with the Letter this Day received from the General, directed to Mr. Scawen, and with the Inconveniences that must necessarily follow, if effectual Course be not taken for speedy paying the Arrears due from the City.

This Committee is further to press it earnestly, That the City do take speedy and effectual Course for speedy levying and bringing in Six Months Assessments upon the Ordinance of Sixty thousand Pounds per mensem, like as the Countries do.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Strickland, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country for a Month.

Poor.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for Employment of the Poor be read the Second time on Monday Morning next, the first Business peremptorily.

Wool, &c.

It is further Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning Wool and Fullers Earth be read immediately next after.

Seizure of a Danish Ship.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to consider of, and report to the House, the true State of the Demands made by the Company of Merchant Adventurers, concerning a Ship of Arms of the King of Denmark's seized by the Parliament going to Newcastle.

King's Servants.

Sir Walter Erle reports a List of the King's Servants, agreed on by the Committee to be sent to attend the King.

Herbert, Mr. James Harrington, Sir Foulk Grevill, Mr. Mildmay, Mr. Anstie, Mr. Titus, Mr. Reeves, Mr. Redding, Mr. Firebrace, Mr. Burrowes, Mr. Doucett, Mr. Saltmarsh, Mr. Cresset, Mr. Joyner, Mr. Evans, Mr. Muschampe, Mr. Andrew, Mr. Babington, Mr. Napier, Mr. Catcherside, Mr. Preston, Mr. Turner, Mr. Harding, Mrs. Wheeler Laundress, Mr. Lewin: Besides Coachmen, Footmen, Grooms, and Under Cooks: And also * Sherley and * Laban, Two Pages for the Presence Chamber.

Reported and agreed 20Novembris 1647; and referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to send them down accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, and Commissioners late attending the King; to consider of Captain John Thornhill, who is informed to have done very good Service to the Parliament, and was anciently the King's Servant, put into the List of the King's Servants by this House, to appoint him to attend the King.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Henry Murray be appointed to attend the King: and Mr. Maxwell and Mr. Maule be left out.

Ordered, That Mr. Babington be put into the List of the King's Servants.

Defence of the Tower.

Ordered, That the Officers of the Ordnance do issue such Provisions out of the Stores, for the necessary Defence of the Tower, as the Committee of the Ordinance give Order and Warrant to the Officers of the Army shall to issue.

Habeas Corpus for a Prisoner.

Ordered, That the Lieutenant of the Tower do obey the Writ of Habeas Corpus issued to him, awarded against Sir Lewis Dive his Prisoner: And that Mr. Speaker do grant his Warrant for removing and committing him to the King's Bench; upon the same Crime he now stands committed to the Tower.

Cheshire.

Ordered, That the Cheshire Business be reported on Tuesday Morning next, after the Reports from Goldsmiths Hall.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page;

The Lords have commanded us to let you know, That they have not received any positive Answer from the Scotts Commissioners, concerning their joining to present their Propositions to the King: Whereupon the Propositions are not ingrossed: Therefore they forbear to name a Committee, as yet, to present them. They desire, That the Members of both Houses, that are of the Committee of both Kingdoms, may meet this Afternoon at Four of the Clock, to press the Scotts Commissioners therein. They have appointed Two of Clock on Monday, for the Committee appointed to examine the Business concerning the London Agents, to meet in the Prince's Lodgings; and desire, that the Members of the House, that are of that Committee, may meet them likewise, if it may stand with their Conveniency.

Propositions to the King.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree, That the Members of this House, that are of the Committee of both Kingdoms, do meet this Afternoon at Four of Clock, to press the Scotts Commissioners, touching the Propositions to be sent to the King.

London Agents.

Ordered, That the Committee of this House, appointed to examine the Business concerning the London Agents, do meet a Committee of the Lords appointed to that Purpose, on Monday at Two post meridiem, in the Prince's Lodgings.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree that the Members of this House, that are of the Committee of both Kingdoms, do meet this Afternoon: and that the Committee for the London Agents do meet on Monday, as is desired.
