Prayers.

Newcastle Election.

THE humble Petition of Freemen of the Town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne, assembled, for the Election of a Burgess to serve in Parliament for the said Corporation, on the Behalf of themselves and the Corporation, was this Day read.

Resolved, &c. That this Petition, and the whole Busisiness concerning the Election, be committed unto Sir Henry Vane senior, Mr. Hollis, Mr. Blakeston, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Holland, Sir Phil. Stapilton, Mr.Gott, Sir Arthur Hesilrige, Mr.Clive, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Swynfen, Sir Wm. Salop Election.

It is further Ordered, upon the Question, That the Business concerning the Election of a Knight of the Shire to serve for the County of Salop, upon the whole Matter of it, be referred to the Examination of this Committee; to be considered of next after the Business concerning Newcastle: And that Sir Robert Harley and Mr. Whitelock be added to this Committee.

Irish Affairs.

Mr. Rich carried to the Lords the Vo s passed on Thursday and Friday last, concerning the Government of Ireland, Civil and Military.

He is likewise to desire the Lords, That their Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, that usually sits at Derby House, may meet this Afternoon; and so constantly, from time to time, for Dispatch of the Affairs referred unto them.

Sir T. Middleton, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the Business, concerning Sir Thomas Middleton and Mr. Vaughan, be revived: And that they, or any Five of them, have Power to meet and act: And are to meet this Afternoon at Two of Clock, in the Place formerly appointed.

Disbanding Army.

A Letter directed to Mr. Reynolds, a Member of this House, of 1 Aprilis 1647, with a printed Copy of a Petition inclosed, directed "To the Right honourable the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, assembled in Parliament;" and was from the Inhabitants of the County of Essex, concerning the Disbanding of the Army; and the Copy of a Warrant inclosed, directed "To the HighConstables of Ucklesford Hundred," directing the Publishing of the said Petitions by the respective Ministers, in their several Congregations, 4 Aprilis 1647; and the Subscriptions to be returned to the Black Boy at Chelmesford, 6 Aprilis 1647; and to desire so many as can with Conveniency meet at Stratford Longthorne, upon Tuesday 13 Aprilis, at Two of Clock, to go to London, with the same; the Warrant bearing date 26 Martii 1647: All this Day read.

Raising Monies.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the Ordinance, concerning the Raising of Sixty thousand Pounds per mensem, for the Maintenance of the Forces of England and Ireland, do report that Ordinance Tomorrow Morning, the first Business; and nothing to intervene.

Disbanding Forces, &c.

Ordered, That the Knights of the Shire that serve for the County of Essex, do write down Letters to the County to give them Notice, That they are informed of a Petition that is carrying on in the County, concerning the Disbanding of the Army: And to signify unto them, That the House is now upon that Business; and are upon borrowing Monies for the Pay of them, in . . . . to their Disbanding, and for the Relief of Ireland.

The Gentlemen of Norffolk and Suffolk are to signify the like unto their Counties.

Irish Affairs.

Mr. Rich brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to all the Votes carried by him to the Lords, concerning the Affairs of Ireland.

Loan from the City.

Ordered, That the Committee that is appointed to go to the Common Council this Afternoon, for the Borrowing of Two hundred thousand Pounds, shall have Power to offer, for Security, the Remainder of the Bishops Lands, as it was formerly given; with the collateral Security of the Excise in Course; Papists and Delinquents Estates in Arms, excepted from Pardon; and any other Security as is in the Power of the Parliament, and not already engaged, except the Ordinance now in Passing, for the Raising of the monthly Sum of Sixty thousand Pounds, for the Service of the Forces of England and Ireland.

Cliveland Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition, this Day offered from the Inhabitants of Cliveland in Yorkeshire, be read when the Business of the North is taken into Consideration.
