Mr. Wollaston.

Ordered, &c. That on Thursday come Sevennight, the first Business, the Report concerning Mr. Wollaston be made.

Wisbich Arrears of Taxes.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you the Petition of the Inhabitants of Wisbich, in the Isle of Elye; which they specially recommend unto the Consideration of this House.

The Petition was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Arrears of the Taxes upon the Lands of the Petitioners, that are now under Water, be respited until the House take further Order.

Resolved, &c. That this Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Eastern Association, to report their Opinions, What is fit to be done upon the Whole.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House hath considered their Lordships Message: And have taken the Petition into special Consideration; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Garisons.

According to former Order, the House proceeded in the Consideration, what Garisons shall be kept up, and what laid down.

Resolved, &c. That the Garison of Appleby Castle be disgarisoned, and the new Works slighted and dismantled.

Resolved, &c. That the Garison in Dockwra Hall be disgarisoned, and the new Works slighted and dismantled.

Resolved, &c. That Worcester be disgarisoned, and the new Works slighted, the Forts pulled down, and the Graffe filled up, and the Drawbridges pulled down.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of the County of Worcester to take Order, That the City of Worcester may be made untenable.

The Question being put, Whether the City of Coventry shall be disgarisoned, and the new Works slighted.

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So that the Question passed with the Affirmative.

And it is referred to the Committee of Warwickshire to slight the said Works accordingly.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Green carried up to the Lords the Vote, in way of Declaration, concerning the Payment of the whole Excise, after the Five-and-twentieth of March, to the Excise Office in London; and likewise, The Vote of this House for adhering to John Bradshawe Esquire, to be High Sheriff of the County of Lancaster: Was to put the Lords in mind of the Ordinance for the better regulating the University of Oxon; of the Ordinance for the Remainder of the Twelve thousand Pounds for Chester; and of the Vote for the Judges for Cheshire for this Circuit.

Garisons.

Resolved, &c. That Warwicke Castle be kept a Garison with Threescore Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of Warwickshire to dispose of the Powder at Coventrie in this manner; viz. Twenty Barrels of Powder to Coventrie, Twenty Barrels to Warwick Castle, and the Remainder for the Service of Ireland.

Ordered, &c. That it be referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, at Derby House, to take Order, That such Powder at Coventrie, as shall be appointed for Ireland, may be so ordered, as may be made use of for the Service of Ireland.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Denbigh be disgarisoned, demolished, and the Works slighted.

Resolved, &c. That Chirk Castle be disgarisoned, and the new Works about it slighted.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Holte be disgarisoned and totally demolished; and the Works about it slighted and dismantled.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Ruthen be disgarisoned and demolished.

Resolved, &c. That the Castles of Hawarden, Flinte, and Ruthland, be disgarisoned and demolished, all but a Tower in Flint Castle, to be reserved for a Gaol for the County.

Ordered, &c. That Mr. Speaker do confer with the Lord of Cherbery; and know of him, What Assurance he will give the Parliament, that Mountgomery Castle may be preserved for the Service of the Parliament; and not fall into such Hands where it may be prejudicial to the Parliament and Kingdom.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of what the Committee of the County of Lancaster hath done in demolishing of Lathom House.

Resolved, &c. That Red Castle be kept a Garison, with Twenty Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Harleigh be disgarisoned and demolished.

Resolved, &c. That the Town and Castle of Carnarvon be kept ganisoned, with One hundred Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Conway be kept a Garison, with Fifty Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Town and Castle of Beaumaris, the Blouckhouse and Holy Head, be kept garisoned with an Hundred and Fifty Men in them, for the Service of them all.

Resolved, &c. That the Town and Castle of Pembroke be kept garisoned, with an Hundred and Fifty Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Town and Castle of Tenby be kept garisoned, with an Hundred Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Haverfordwest be kept garisoned, with an Hundred Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Town of Carmarthen be disgarisoned; and that the Castle of Carmarthen be kept garisoned, with an Hundred Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Aberystwyth be disgarisoned and demolished.

Resolved, &c. That the Castle of Cardigan be disgarisoned and demolished.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Speaker shall confer with the Earl of Carbery; and know of him, What Assurance he will give this House, that Castle Emelyn shall be preserved for the Service of the Parliament; and not fall into such Hands where it may be prejudicial unto the Parliament and Kingdom.

Resolved, &c. That the Town and Castle of Caerdiffe, be kept garisoned, with Two hundred Men in it.

Resolved, &c. That Swansey Castle be disgarisoned, and the Works slighted.

Resolved, &c. That the Garison of Wenny be disgarisoned, and the Place made indefensible.

Resolved, &c. That all the Foot in North Wales and South Wales be disbanded.

Resolved, &c. That, on Friday next, the first Business, the House do take into Consideration, How the Forces, that shall be kept for the Safety of the Kingdom of England, shall be commanded and paid.

Ordered, &c. That, on Friday next, the Clerk do bring in to the House a List of the Garisons that are to be kept up; and the particular Number of Foot in them, and the total Number of the said Foot.

Answer to Lords.

Mr. Green reports, That the Lords do agree to the Order for the Remainder of Twelve thousand Pounds for Chester: To the Judges for Cheshire: To John Bradshawe Esquire to be Sheriff of Lancashire.

Army Pay, &c.

Ordered, &c. That, on Thursday come Sevennight, the Committee of the Army do bring in an Account, What Monies have been paid to the Army, what are in Arrear, and in what Counties.

Letter to Commissioners at Holdenby.

Mr. Morley reported the Copy of a Letter to be sent to the Commissioners at Holdenby: The which was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered, that the Votes Yesterday made, touching Business at Holdenby, and a Transcript of the former Letter, be sent inclosed to the Commissioners.

The Copy of a Letter, to be sent to Major General Skippon, was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

Paule's Scaffolds.

Mr. Grimston reports the Ordinance, sent from the Lords, concerning the Scaffolds about Paules, That the Committee has made no Amendments in it.

It is thereupon Resolved, &c. That this House doth concur with the Lords in the said Ordinance.
