Tuesday, September 27th, 1659.

Army Appointment.

SIR Arthur Hesilrig reports from the Commissioners for nominating Commission-Officers, That Captain John Breman be nominated, and humbly presented, to the Parliament, for their Approbation, to be Major to that Regiment of Horse whereof Colonel Nathaniell Rich is Colonel, in the Room and Place of Major John Merriman, who hath lately resigned that Command.

Resolved, That John Breman be, and is hereby approved of to be, Major of that Regiment of Horse whereof Colonel Rich is Colonel, in the Room and Place of Major John Merriman.

Excise, &c.

Colonel White reports Amendments to the Bill for the continuing the Receipt of the Excise and New Impost Customs and Subsidies, as formerly: Which were this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That this Act continue until the First Day of January next: And that the Blank in the Bill be filled up, accordingly.

Resolved, That the Salary of the Commissioners for the Excise shall be Two-pence in the Pound amongst them.

Resolved, That the Salary of the Commissioners for the Customs shall be Two-pence in the Pound amongst them.

Resolved, That the Salary of the Commissioners for bringing in the Arrears of the Revenue, and for Appeals, shall be a Peny in the Pound out of the Excise, and a Peny in the Pound out of the Customs, to be divided amongst them.

Resolved, That Luke Robinson, Wm. White, Esquires, Dr. Wm. Parker, Adam Baines, and John Jackson, Esquires, shall be Commissioners for bringing in the Arrears of the Revenue, and for Appeals: And that their Names shall be inserted into this Bill.

The Question being propounded, That the Number of the Commissioners for the Customs and Excise shall be Five for each;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

The House was divided.
The Noes went forth.

So it passed with the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That the Number of Commissioners for the Customs and Excise shall be Five for each.

Resolved, That Mr. Richard Downes shall be one of the Commissioners for the Customs.

The Question being put, That George Foxcroft do continue a Commissioner for the Customs;

The House was divided.
The Yeas went forth.

So it passed with the Negative.

The Question being put, That the now Commissioners for the Customs, and Commissioners for Excise, do continue Commissioners;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That Mr. Maurice Thompson be one of the Commissioners for the Customs.

Resolved, That * Bulstrode be one of the Commissioners for the Excise.

Resolved, That Colonel John White be one of the Commissioners for the Customs.

Resolved, That Mr. Richard Baker, of Lyme-street, be one of the Commissioners for the Customs.

Resolved, That Mr. * Pargiter be one of the Commissioners for the Excise.

Resolved, That Mr. Benjamin Goodwin be one of the Commissioners for the Excise.

Resolved, That Mr. Tho. Lenthall be one of the Commissioners for the Excise.

Resolved, That the Quorum of the Commissioners for bringing in the Arrears be Three.

Resolved, That any Two of the Commissioners for the Customs, and of the Commissioners for Excise, shall be a Quorum.

Resolved, That the Blank, in the First Folio, Line the Nineteenth, be filled up with "the First of November 1659."

Resolved, That this Bill be ingrossed.

Army Appointments.

Sir Arthur Hesilrig reports, Whereas Captain Willoughby, late Captain of a Troop of Horse in the Regiment whereof Colonel Francis Hacker is Colonel, hath resigned his Command, the Names of Persons hereafter named, to be presented to the Parliament for their Approbation, for the several Commands in the said Regiment; viz.

Elias Walley to be Captain of that Troop of Horse, whereof the said Captain Willoughby was Captain:

Wm. Watts to be Captain-Lieutenant to Colonel Francis Hacker:

John Finnis to be Lieutenant to Major Wm. Hobart:

Samuell Stephenson to be Cornet to Colonel Hacker:

Zacharie Farmer to be Quarter-master to Captain Gabriel Wayne.

Resolved, That Elias Whalley be Captain of that Troop of Horse, whereof the said Captain Willoughby was Captain.

Resolved, That John Finnis be Lieutenant to Major Wm. Hobbart.

Resolved, That Samuel Stephenson be Cornet to Colonel Hacker.

He also reports, That Lieutenant Nathaniel Burch, now Lieutenant in Colonel Smith's Regiment, to be Lieutenant to Major Elton, in Colonel Mitchell's Regiment:

Lieutenant Nath. Burden, now Lieutenant to Major Elton, in Colonel Mitchell's Regiment, to be Lieutenant in Lieutenant Burch's Room, in Colonel Smith's Regiment:

Lieutenant James Doggett, now Lieutenant to Captain Foster, in Colonel Smith's Regiment, may be Lieutenant to Captain Sharpe, in the same Regiment.

Army Commissions.
