Wednesday, the 20th of April, 1659.

Prayers.

Publick Revenue.

ACCORDING to the Order made Yesterday, the House sat in a Grand Committee until Eleven of the Clock.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Upon the Report of Mr. Reynolds from the Grand Committee, concerning the Revenue and Debts of the Commonwealth;

Publick Revenue.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee for inspecting the Accompts and the Revenue of the Commonwealth, to consider, How the several Debts mentioned in the Accompt stated the Thirtieth of March 1659, amounting to One-and-forty thousand Seven hundred Sixty-one Pounds Nineteen Shillings and Twopence, due and owing by the Sub-Commissioners and Farmers of the Excise, may be forthwith brought in, and paid in to the Receipt of the Exchequer.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. John Bence be added to and be one of the Committee for inspecting into the Accompts and Revenue of the Commonwealth, in the Place of Mr. Bampfield, one of the said Committee, since called to the Chair to be Speaker.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the same Committee, to inform themselves, How the Orders of the House, for the Bringing in of the Debt of One hundred fifty thousand Seven hundred and Four Pounds Fourteen Shillings and Eight-pence, due by the Farmers of the Excise of Beer and Ale, and Inland Commodities, the Twenty-fifth of March 1659, have been obeyed, and complied with; and, in case of Failure, What further Course shall be taken for the speedy Bringing in of so much thereof as is yet behind, and unpaid.

Mr. Reynolds further reported, That, in the Paper of Debts owing to the Commonweath, they find a Debt of Twelve thousand Pounds charged upon Mr. Martin Noell, one of the Members of this House, for his Farm, for the Custom of Sea-Coal, due the Twenty-fifth of March 1659: Whereupon, It was

Resolved, &c. That the Debt of Twelve thousand Pounds, charged on Mr. Martin Noell, be referred to the Committee for inspecting the Accompts and Revenue of the Commonwealth; to consider, How the same may be brought in: And to report their Opinion thereupon to the House, on Monday Morning next.

Upon Mr. Reynolds' Report from the Grand Committee; It is

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee, That a Committee be appointed, to consider, How the Sum of Forty-six thousand Two hundred and Fifty-four Pounds Nine Shillings Five-pence Half-peny, owing by the Compounders for New Buildings, may be forthwith brought in; and what is necessary to be further done for the speedy Bringing in thereof.

The Question being put, That the Consideration of this Business, concerning the bringing in of the Monies owing by the Compounders for New Buildings, be referred to a select Committee, to be now named;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee for inspecting the Accompts and Revenue of the Commonwealth, to consider, How the Sum of Forty-six thousand Two hundred Fifty-four Pounds Nine Shillings and Five-pence Halfpeny, owing by the Compounders for New Buildings, may be forthwith brought in; and what is necessary to be further done for the speedy Bringing in thereof.

Resolved, &c. That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, on Friday Morning next, to take into further Consideration the Matters referred to a Grand Committee, concerning the Revenue and Debts of the Commonwealth.
