A BILL for changing the Saturday Market at Carlisle, to Friday, was this Day read the Third time; and, upon the Question, passed.
Ordered, That the Lord Protector's Consent be desired to this Bill.
Leave of Absence.
Ordered, That Colonel Bingham have Leave to go into the Country.
Portsmouth Ministers.
A Bill for the Provision and better Maintenance of the Ministry in the Town of Portesmouth, was this Day read the First time; and upon the Question, ordered to be read the Second time on Saturday Morning next.
Louthian's Petition.
Ordered, That Colonel Louthian's Petition be read To-morrow Morning.
Protector appoints to be attended.
The Lord Chief-Justice Glyn reports from the Committee appointed to attend his Highness the Lord Protector, to know when this House shall attend his Highness with the Petition and Advice, That they attended his Highness accordingly: Who hath appointed this Morning at Ten of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.
Petition and Advice.
Resolved, That this Petition and Advice shall be carried up by the House, and presented to his Highness the Lord Protector; and his Highness acquainted, by Mr. Speaker, what Alteration hath been made in it: And that the said Alteration be read; and, if his Highness desire it, the whole Petition and Advice: And that, thereupon, his Highness' Assent be desired to the whole Petition and Advice.
Arthur's Claims.
A Bill for satisfying of Captain John Arthur, for divers Sums of Money disbursed by him for the Service of this Commonwealth, out of forfeited Lands, Houses, or Leases, in Ireland, was this Day read the Second time.
Ordered, That the Debate upon this Bill be adjourned until To-morrow Morning.
Message to attend the Protector.
The Serjeant brings Word, That Serjeant Middleton was at the Door, with a Message from his Highness.
And thereupon he was called in: And, having made Two Obeisances to the House, when he came into the Middle of the House, with his Mace in his Hand, he declared to Mr. Speaker, That he is commanded by his Highness the Lord Protector, to let this House know, that his Highness is in the Painted Chamber; and desires to speak with this honourable House.
And thereupon withdrew.
Which being done, Mr. Speaker, attended by the House, went up to the Painted Chamber: Where being come, his Highness, attended by the Officers of State, came in: And, thereupon, Mr. Speaker presented the humble Petition and Advice, acquainting his Highness with the Alteration made therein: Which was read: And, thereupon, Mr. Speaker, in the Name of the Parliament, did desire his Highness' Consent to the whole Petition and Advice: To which his Highness gave his Consent; and afterwards made a Speech to the House: Which being ended, he departed: And Mr. Speaker, with the House, returned to the Parliament-House.
Ordered, That the Report in this Business be made by Mr. Speaker to the House To-morrow Morning; nothing to intervene.
Adjournment.
Resolved, That the House be adjourned till To-morrow Morning.
The House adjourned itself, accordingly.
