Westminster Poor.

ORDERED, That the Petition concerning the Poor of Westminster, and the Suburbs, be read on Monday Morning next.

Gresham's, &c. Petition.

The humble Petition and Appeal of Marmaduke Gresham, and John Holmden, was this Day read.

The humble Petition of Jane Gresham, an Infant, sole Daughter and Heir of Thomas Gresham, Esquire, deceased; who was eldest Son and Heir of Sir Edward Gresham, Knight, deceased; was this Day read.

Ordered, That these Petitions be referred to a Committee, to examine the Matter, and report it to this House, with their Opinion: Viz. Sir Wm. Resolved, That this Committee have Power to examine Witnesses on Oath: With Power also to send for Persons, Papers, and Witnesses.

The Question being propounded, That Proceedings in this Case be stayed in the mean time;

And the Question being put; That that Question be now put;

It passed with the Negative.

Grant to Gen. Monke.

Ordered, That the Report of the Amendments to General Monke's Bill shall be made the first Business on Monday Morning next; nothing to intervene.

Preston Rectory.

Ordered, That the Bill touching the Rectory appropriate of Preston, in the County of Suffolk, be read the Second time on Monday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Petition of Mr. Robinson, and Sir Cornelius Vermuden Knight, be read on Monday Morning next.

Thanksgiving Day.

A Declaration, setting forth the Grounds and Reasons for setting apart Friday, the Twentieth Day of February, for a Day of publick Thanksgiving, was this Day read the First time at large, and after read by Parts.

Resolved, That these Words, "and such as are," be omitted in the First Page.

Resolved, That these Words, "and horrid," be inserted next after the Word "base," Page *, Line *.

Resolved, That these Words, "employed in Foreign Parts have," be inserted in the * Page, Line *, next after the Word "Ministers:" And that these Words; viz. "both in Spaine and Flaunders;" in the next Line, be omitted.

Resolved, That instead of these Words, viz. "Thursday last;" in the * Page, Line the *, these Words be inserted, viz. "the Eighth Day of January Instant.

Resolved, That the Day of Thanksgiving be on Friday the Twentieth of February next.

Resolved, That this Clause be inserted; viz. "That all Ministers, in their respective Congregations, be required to publish this Narrative on the Lord's Day before the Day of public Thanksgiving."

The Question being propounded, That there be a Clause added in this Narrative, to exhort the Ministers, in their publick Congregations, to pray for the Lord Protector;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

It passed in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, That there be a Clause added in this Narrative, to exhort the Ministers, in their publick Congregations, to pray for the Lord Protector.

The Clause being penned, and read in these Words; viz. "And that they be exhorted, on all Occasions, in their Prayers in the publick Congregation, to pray for the Lord Protector, and all that are in Authority in this Commonwealth:" And the said Declaration being so amended; was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That the former Committee appointed to prepare this Declaration, do desire his Highness the Lord Protector's Consent to this Declaration: And that Sir John Hobart, Mr. Drake, Lord Cockram, Colonel Blake, Colonel Rous, Mr. Grove, Mr. Downing, Colonel Thisselthwaite, Major General Kelsey, Colonel Beamont, Mr. Bond, Mr. Bedford, Lord Broghill, Sir John Reynolds, Lord Strickland, Major General Whaley, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Reynell, Alderman Foote, Mr. Bampfeild, Lord Evers, Sir Christofer Pack, Colonel Sidenham, Colonel Jephson, be added to this Committee: And are to meet this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber, at Two of Clock.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Aldermen of London be received this Day Sevennight.

War with Spaine.

According to former Order, the House was this Day resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to consider how the Four hundred Thousand Pounds, for carrying on the War with Spaine, may be most speedily and effectually raised.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Downing was called to the Chair.

Mr. Downing resumed the Chair.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House on Monday Morning next, to consider how the said Four hundred thousand Pounds, for carrying on the Spanish War, may be most speedily and effectually raised.

Ordered, That the Report upon the Petition of the Cheshire Officers, recommended to the House by his Highness, be read on Tuesday Morning next.
