Leave of Absence.

ORDERED, That Colonel Welden, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country for Ten Days.

Ordered, That Mr. Windham, a Member of this House, have Leave to go into the Country for Fourteen Days.

Irish Affairs.

Ordered, That Sir John Reynolds and Mr. Waller be added to the Committee for Irish Affairs.

Committees.

Ordered, That upon Thursday, during the Time the Grand Committee of this House for Trade ought to sit, no other Committee do sit; nor upon any other Day, whiles any Grand Committee ought to sit.

Lawrences, &c. Nat.

An Act for Naturalizing of William Lawrence, Martha Lawrence, Theodora Lawrence, and others, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Committee, to whom the former Bill for naturalizing several Persons was referred: And are to meet this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the DuchyChamber.

Registers.

The House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Grand Committee of the whole House, upon the Debate of the Bill for Registers, adjourned Yesterday.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Master of the Rolls was called to the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Master of the Rolls reports from the Grand Committee of the whole House, That that Committee hath sat according to the Order upon the Bill for Registers; and desire Leave to sit again on Monday Morning, upon this Business.

Resolved, That on Wednesday Morning next, the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill for Registers.

A Letter from his Highness the Lord Protector, dated the 10th of October 1656, was this Day read; and was as followeth:

To our Right Trusty and Right Well-beloved Sir Thomas Widdrington Knight, Speaker of the Parliament.

RIGHT Trusty and Right Well-beloved, We greet you well. It being expressed in the Thirty-fourth Article, of the Government, That the Chancellor, Keeper, or Commissioners of the Great Seal, the Treasurer, Admiral, Chief Governors of Ireland and Scotland, and the Chief Justices of both the Benches, shall be chosen by the Approbation of Parliament; and, in the Intervals of Parliament, by the Approbation of the major Part of the Council, to be after approved by the Parliament; and We having, before the Meeting of the Parliament, appointed, with the Approbation of the Council, our Right Trusty and Right Well-beloved Nathanaell Fiennes, and John Lisle, Commissioners of the Great Seal of England; and our Right Trusty and Well-beloved John Glynne, Chief Justice of the Upper Bench; I have thought it necessary to transmit to you the Names of those Persons, to the End that the Resolution of the Parliament may be known, concerning their Approbation: Which I desire may be with such Speed as the other publick Occasions of the Commonwealth will permit. And so I bid you heartily Farewell.

Resolved, That Nathaniell Fiennes Esquire, being appointed by his Highness the Lord Protector, with the Approbation of the Council, to be a Commissioner of the Great Seal, is approved by the Parliament, to be a Commissioner of the Great Seal.

Resolved, That John Lisle Esquire, being appointed by his Highness the Lord Protector, with the Approbation of the Council, to be a Commissioner of the Great Seal, is approved by the Parliament, to be a Commissioner of the Great Seal.

Resolved, That John Glynne, Serjeant at Law, being appointed by his Highness the Lord Protector, with the Approbation of the Council, to be Chief Justice of the Upper-Bench, is approved by the Parliament, to be Chief Justice of the Upper Bench.

The House adjourned itself until Eight of the Clock, on Monday Morning next.
