Prayers.
Settling the Government.
THE House this Day, according to former Order, resumed the Debate, adjourned on Saturday last.
The said Debate was continued all the Forenoon, and resumed again in the Afternoon.
And the Question being propounded, That the said standing Forces, after the Death of the present Lord Protector, in the Interval of Parliament, shall be in the Disposition and Ordering of the said Council, for the Ends aforesaid, until a Parliament be assembled; and then the Disposal of the said Forces to be made by the Parliament, as they shall think fit;
And the Question being propounded, That these Words, viz. "until a Parliament be assembled; and then the Disposal of the said Forces to be made by the Parliament, as they shall think fit," be Part of the Question;
And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;
It passed with the Affirmative.
And the said Question being put; It was
Resolved, That these Words, viz. "until a Parliament be assembled; and then the Disposal of the said Forces to be made by the Parliament, as they shall think fit;" be Part of the Question.
And the main Question being put; It was
Resolved, upon the Question, That the said standing Forces, after the Death of the present Lord Protector, in the Interval of Parliament, shall be in the Disposition and Ordering of the said Council, for the Ends aforesaid, until a Parliament be assembled; and then the Disposal of the said Forces to be made by the Parliament, as they shall think fit.
