Monday, the 21st of November, 1653.

Appointment of Sheriffs.

RESOLVED, That John Parker Esquire, be discharged of being Sheriff for the County of Surrey for the Year ensuing.

Resolved, upon the Question, by the Parliament, That Henry White, of Putney, Esquire, be, and is hereby, nominated and approved of to be Sheriff of the County of Surrey: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue a Commission to him to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Resolved, That Symon Bennett Esquire be discharged of being Sheriff for the County of Nottingham, for the Year ensuing.

Resolved, upon the Question, by the Parliament, That Sir Hardolph Westneys be, and is hereby, nominated and approved of to be Sheriff of the County of Nottingham: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue a Commission to him to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Prisons, &c.

Resolved, That Major Goddard do make his Report from the Committee of Prisons and Prisoners on Saturday next.

Streater's Commitment.

Colonel Jones reports from the Council of State, The Copy of the Warrant by which John Streater was committed by the Council to the Prison of the Gatehouse; as also Copies of the printed Papers, for publishing of which he stands committed; and the Proceedings in the Court of Upper Bench, in order to the Releasing of the said John Streater, to the end, the whole Matter being before the Parliament, such further Order may be given concerning him, as they shall judge fit: Which Copy of the Warrant was now read.

Ordered, That John Streater be, and do stand, committed to the Prison of the Gatehouse, Westminster, in order to his Tryal: And that Mr. Speaker do issue a Warrant for his Commitment, accordingly.

Committee of Petitions.

Ordered, That Friday next be appointed for Reports from the Committee of Petitions.

High Court of Justice.

A Bill intituled, An Act for the Establishing an High Court of Justice, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read the Second time: Which was done, accordingly.

The Question being put, That the Clause, in the 14th Line of the Second Folio, beginning with the Words "and Lastly," and ending with the Word "Act," in the 16th Line of the same Folio, shall stand;
