Tuesday, 15th of November, 1653.

Nomination of Sheriffs.

RESOLVED, upon the Question, by the Parliament, That Thomas Evans Esquire be, and is nominated and approved of to be, Sheriff of the County of Cardigan for the Year ensuing: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue a Commission to him, to be Sheriff of the said Country, accordingly.

Resolved, That Bennet Sherard Esquire Baron Le Trim be discharged from being Sheriff of the County of Rutland, for the Year ensuing.

Resolved, upon the Question, by the Parliament, That Richard Fancourt Esquire be, and is hereby nominated and approved to be, Sheriff of the County of Rutland: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue a Commission to him to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

The Question being put, That Sir Wm. Sidley be discharged from being Sheriff of the County of Cambridge and Huntington;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

E. of Derby.

Resolved, That the Bill for the Earl of Derby be read on Friday next.

Assessments.

Colonel Clerk reports from the Committee of the Army, Amendments to the Bill for the Assessment: Which were twice read; and agreed.

He also reports, The Distributions of the Sums; which, with the Names of the Commissioners, were inserted into the Bill.

Resolved, That the Rate for Cornwall do stand.

He also reports the Opinion of the Committee, That the Assessment laid on the Town and County of Poole be cast into the County of Dorset for the future.

Resolved, That Five Pounds be taken off from the Town and County of Poole, and laid upon the County of Dorsett.

Resolved, That Ten Pounds by the Month, in the Assessment, be taken off from Haverford-West, and laid on the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, and the Liberties thereof.

Resolved, That Sixteen Pounds Thirteen Shillings Fourpence be taken out of the Monthly Assessment on Haverford-West, and charged on the County of Duresme.

Resolved, That Three Pounds Six Shillings and Eightpence of the Monthly Assessment, charged on Haverford-West, be taken off, and laid on the County of Westmerland.

Resolved, That Five Pounds of the Monthly Assessment, charged on Haverford-West, be taken off, and charged on the Town of Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Question being put, That the City of London and the County of Middlesex be put together in this Assessment;

It passed in the Negative.

The humble Petition of the Commissioners of the Monthly Assessments, and divers others, in their own and the Behalf of the Inhabitants of the Isle of Wight, was this Day read.

Resolved, That this Assessment for the Isle of Wight shall stand as now it is in the Bill.
