Saturday, the 15th of October, 1653.

Distressed Protestants in Ireland.

MR. Sadler reports from the Committee for publick Debts, A Certificate from the Committee of Accompts, what Monies were received by the Treasurers in the Act for a speedy Loan, and Contribution towards the Relief of the Distressed Protestants of Ireland; and how the same hath been paid; with a List of the particular Receipts and Disbursements: Which was this Day read.

Com rs of Accompts.

The Question being put, That the Commissioners appointed by the Act for Accompts and ascertaining publick Debts, shall have the Use of the Duchy-House to sit in;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

Major-Gen. Desborow, Tellers for the Yeas: 31.
Colonel Kenrick, With the Yeas,
Colonel Courtney, Tellers for the Noes: 30.
Colonel James, With the Noes,

So it was Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Commissioners appointed by the Act for Accompts, and ascertaining publick Debts, shall have the Use of the Duchy-House to sit in.

Embassy to Sweden.

Mr. Lawrence reports from the Council of State, The Draught of Letters of Credence to the Lord Commissioner Whitelock, as Ambassador Extraordinary to the Queen of Sweden: Which was this Day read; and, after some Amendments at the Table, was agreed.

Whitelock's Arrears.

A Bill for the Payment of One thousand and Fifty Pounds to the Lord Commissioner Whitelock out of Prize Goods, for the Arrears of his Salary: Which was read the First and Second time: And, after some Amendments at the Table;

The Question being put, That this Bill be ingrossed;

It passed in the Negative.

And, upon the Question, passed.

Chancery Court.

The Question being propounded, That the Proceedings in Chancery be adjourned for One Month, from this Day;

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

Colonel Clerk, Tellers for the Noes: 31.

So it passed in the Affirmative.

So it was Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Proceedings in Chancery be adjourned for One Month, from this Day.

Resolved, That these Words be added to the former Vote; "and that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal, notwithstanding this Vote, be authorized and impowered to issue forth, under the Great Seal, all original Writs, Writs of Covenant and Entry."

Writs of Error.

Resolved, That Mr. Spence and Mr. Broughton do bring in the Bill for Writs of Error.
