Prayers.

Col Temple.

THE humble Petition of James Temple Esquire, a Member of Parliament, was this Day read.

Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to examine the Truth of the Matter of Fact, and state the same, and report it to the Parliament; with Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Witnesses; and that the said Mr. James Temple have Liberty to attend the said Committee therein: Viz. Unto Sir Arthure Hesilrig, Mr. Darley, Colonel Lister, Colonel Dove, Mr. Bond, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Hallowes, Sir John Bouchier, Sir Wm. Allanson, Colonel Morley, Colonel Purefoy, Mr. Nevill, Mr. Garland, Mr. Millington, Mr. Masham, Colonel Walton, Mr. Gratwick, Sir Wm. Masham, Mr. Stephen, Colonel Norton, Mr. Pury, Colonel Birch, Mr. Oldsworth, Colonel Ingoldsby: And are to meet in the Exchequer-Chamber, To-morrow at Two of Clock in the Afternoon.

Correspondence with Hamburgh.

A Letter from the Proconsul and Senate of the City of Hamburgh, dated 20 Decembris 1652, was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Publick Minister from Hamburgh, have Audience by a Committee of Parliament, To-morrow, at Eleven of the Clock, in the usual Place, and that Sir Oliver Fleming Knight, Master of the Ceremonies, do give him Notice hereof.

Resolved, That those Hambrough Merchants-Ships which were brought in, and have been discharged by the Court of Admiralty, have liberty to unlade and sell their Goods and Lading here; and that it be referred to the Committee of the Navy to take Account of the Names of the said Ships, and their Lading; and that they do give Order to the Customers, and all other Officers, to permit the same, notwithstanding the last Act, without any Forfeiture or Penalty.

Diplomatic Correspondence.

Resolved, That the Remonstrance from Lubeck be translated.

Ordered, That the Letters from the Queen of Sweden be translated; and presented to the Parliament on Tuesday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Letters from Lubeck be translated; and presented to the Parliament on Tuesday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Letters from the Senate of Cullin be translated; and presented to the Parliament on Tuesday Morning next.

Ordered, That the Letters in French, from Heraldus Apleboone, Publick Minister of the Queen of Sweden, be translated; and presented to the Parliament on Tuesday Morning next.

Correspondence with Spaine.

Colonel Sidney reports from the Council of State, A Draught of an Answer to be returned to the Spanish Ambassador: Which was read.

Resolved, That this Answer be referred back again to the Council of State, to consider thereof; and, upon the Debate of the House, to present to the Parliament an Answer to be sent to him with all convenient Speed.

Archduke Leopald.

Colonel Sidney also reports, An Answer to be given to the Letters of the Archduke Leopald: Which was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Letter be sent to the Archduke, and signed by Mr. Speaker, and sealed with the Seal of the Parliament; and that it be referred to the Council of State, to prepare and fit the same accordingly.

Isle of Wight.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Isle of Wight be made on Tuesday Morning next.

Prince of Conde.

A Letter from the Prince of Conde, of the 26th of December 1652, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Letter be referred to the Council of State; and that they be impowered to hear what the Agent from the Prince of Conde hath to say.

House to seek God.

Resolved, That Monday next be set apart for a Day of Humiliation, and Seeking of God, in the House.

Resolved, That Mr. Hugh Peters, Mr. Strong, Mr. Carill, and Mr. Lockier, be desired to preach and pray before the Parliament on that Day.

Resolved, That Mr. Gurdon do desire Mr. Hugh Peters, and Mr. Scott do desire Mr. Strong, and Mr. Allein do desire Mr. Carill, and Colonel Ingoldsby do desire Mr. Lockier, to preach and pray before the Parliament on that Day.

Publick Fast.

Resolved, That Thursday Month be set apart for a Day of publick Fasting and Humiliation, throughout the whole Nation, to seek unto Almighty God for a Blessing upon the Councils of this Commonwealth, and their Forces by Sea and Land.

Resolved, That Mr. Marshall, Mr. Amies, and Mr. Venning, be desired to preach and pray before the Parliament, at Margarett's Westminster, on that Day.

Resolved, That Sir Wm. Masham do desire Mr. Marshall, and Sir Henry Mildmay do desire Mr. Amies of Barking in Essex, and that Mr. Allein do desire Mr. Venning, to pray and preach before the Parliament on that Day.

Publick Faith.

Ordered, That the Bill touching the Publick Faith, be read on Tuesday Morning next, next after the Report touching the Isle of Wight.
