Tuesday, the 11th of January, 1652.

Prayers.

New Translation of the Bible.

RESOLVED, That Mr. Scott do bring in a Bill for a New Translation of the Bible out of the original Languages: And that he present the Names of Persons fit to be employed in that Service to the House, for their Consideration.

Treaty with Portugall.

Mr. Speaker, by way of Report, acquaints the Parliament, That he hath subscribed the Preliminary Articles of the Treaty with the Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of Portugall; and caused the same to be sealed with the Seal of the Parliament, according to the Order of the House.

Ordered, That the same, so subscribed, be sent to the Council, to be delivered.

Selling Cathedrals.

Ordered, That Colonel Marten do bring in the Bill for Satisfaction of the Publick Faith, by Sale of such Cathedrals as are fit to be taken down, and otherwise, on Friday next; and nothing to intervene.

Prices of Coals.

Alderman Atkin reports a Certificate, from the Court of Aldermen in Guildhall, dated, Monday, Januarii 3, 1652, touching the Prices of Coals, made according to an Order of Parliament of the 10th of December 1652: Which was this Day read.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Lord Mayor, and the several Courts of Sessions of the Peace for London and Middlesex, at their next Sitting; and that they be impowered to give in Charge to the Grand Jury, to inquire, what is a fit and indifferent Price for Sea-Coals; and, upon their Presentment, to set such Rate and Price as they shall think fit, both within the Cities of London and Westminster, and Liberties thereof, the Borough of Southwark, and County of Middlesex: And that all Woodmongers, Coal Merchants, and others, that sell either in Gross, or by Retale, within the said Cities, and Liberties thereof, the Borough of Southwark, and County aforesaid, be enjoined to sell the Coals, in their Possession, not exceeding the Rate and Price which shall be so set, accordingly: And that the Lord Mayor, and Justices of Peace, within the said Cities and Liberties thereof, and Boroughs and Counties aforesaid, respectively, do take care, that this Order be duly observed, and put in Execution with all possible Speed, for the Advantage and Relief of the Poor.

Ordered, That the Time of Continuance of this Order be till the First of April next.

Ordered, That it be recommended to the Lord Chief Baron, to take especial Care of this Business.

Probates of Wills, &c.

Ordered, That the Amendments to the Bill for Probate of Wills, be reported To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Carmen.

Ordered, That the Amendments to the Bill for the Carmen, be reported on Friday Sevennight next.

Forfeited Estates.

Ordered, That, on Thursday Morning next, the House do take into Consideration the Certificate of the Trustees for Sale of several Lands and Estates forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason, the first Business.

Ditto.

Ordered, That the Act for Relief of Copyholders and Leaseholders of Lands, forfeited for Treason, be reported on Thursday Morning next.

Poor.

Ordered, That the Act for Relief of the Poor, be read on Wednesday Sevennight.

Hitcham's Estate.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in, touching settling Sir Robert Hitcham's Estate, To-morrow Morning, next after the Bill for Probate of Wills.

Admiralty, &c.

Sir Henry Vane the younger made a Relation of the Proceedings of the Commissioners for regulating and managing the Affairs of the Admiralty and Navy.

Conveyances.

Ordered, That the Bill for registering Conveyances, be reported on Wednesday Sevennight.

Regulating the Laws.

Ordered, That every Wednesday in every Week be set apart for the House to take into Consideration the Bills for regulating the Laws; and that nothing do intervene.

Prices of Wines.

A Bill for settling Prices on Wines, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee of the Navy.
