Prayers.

Letter read.

MR. Speaker, by way of Report, acquaints the Parliament, That he had received a Letter from William Cullen Mayor of Dover, from Dover, of the 7th of December 1652: Which was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Letter be referred to the Council of State, to consider thereof; and to do therein as they shall think fit.

Ship Phenix.

The Lord Commissioner Whitelock reports from the Council of State, The Manner of the Recovery of the Ship Phenix from the Dutch.

Salt-petre.

Ordered, That the Bill touching Salt-petre be reported To-morrow Morning.

Comm rs of Assessment.

The Names of Commissioners for the Monthly Assessment within the County of Bedford, which do and will act.

Stainier's Correspondence.

Ordered, That the Council of State do make the Report touching Mr. Stanier on Friday Morning next, after the Bill of Assessments is read the Third time.

Correspondence with Spaine.

Mr. Speaker, by way of Report, acquaints the Parliament, that he hath received a Letter from the Lord Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of Spaine: Which was this Day read; and was directed, "To the Speaker of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of England;" and dated, London 18/8 of December 1652.

Resolved, That the Lord Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of Spaine have Audience in Parliament, on Tuesday Morning next, at Eleven of Clock.

Ordered, That Sir Oliver Flemyng do give Notice thereof to his Lordship, accordingly.

Forest Lands.

Ordered, That the Bill touching Forests be read the First time To-morrow Morning, the first Business; and that, next after the Reading thereof, the Act touching the publick Faith be read the Second time; and that Business taken into Consideration.

Scotch Affairs.

The House this Day, according to former Order, resumed the Debate upon the Report, from the Committee of Parliament appointed to meet with the Deputies which came from Scotland, of several Passages in several Conferences between that Committee and the said Deputies, touching the Number of Persons to be sent from Scotland to sit as Members in the Parliaments of the Commonwealth of England, and the Time when they shall be admitted to sit in Parliament, in reference to the Bill touching the Union.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider what Proportion of Members are fit to serve in Parliament for Scotland and Ireland, to be added to the Number already voted to serve in Parliament for England: And that they report the same on this Day Sevennight: And that then this Debate be resumed the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Ordered, That the Committee be that Committee to whom the Bill touching an equal Representative is referred: And that they meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock: And that Mr. Carew do take care hereof.
