Letter, &c. read.
A LETTER from Hamburgh, of 20 April 1652; from Mr. Richard Bradshaw, with a Paper therein inclosed, were this Day read.
Army Accompts.
Colonel Downes reports from the Committee of the Army; viz.
IN the general Accompt given to the Parliament in August last, the Charge of the Forces in England, Ireland, and Scotland, was estimated, and Provision for them made, accordingly, to the 20th of October 1651.
For the Pay of the said Forces, from the said 20th of October 1651, the Three Months Assessment of 120,000 l a Month, viz. from 29 Septembr. 1651 to 25 Decembr. following, was appointed; which amounts to 360,000 l
Of which said 359,252 £. 8s. 6d. the Payment of the Forces in England and Scotland, from the 25th of December 1651, the End of the said Three Months Assessment, to the said 12th of January, being Eighteen Days to make up an even Month to the said Forces, amounts to about 50,000 £.; which, in the Accompt given in to the Parliament in December last, was expressed to be the then Remainder of the said Assessments towards the Pay of the said Forces, from the said 25th of December last.
Supply Bill.
Resolved, That a Bill be brought in for raising Money by way of a Monthly Assessment, for the maintaining the Forces in England, Ireland, and Scotland; to commence from the 24th of June, and to continue until the 25th of December 1652: And that the Committee of the Army do bring in the same, accordingly; leaving Blanks for the Sums.
Resolved, That the Members of the House, who serve for the several Counties, do bring in, to the Committee of the Army, the Names of Commissioners for the Assessment in the several Counties.
Resolved, That it be referred to a Committee, to consider how the further Charge, besides what shall be supplied by the Assessment both for the Army and Navy, may be carried on out of the several Treasuries; and how, and by what means, the same may be effectually brought in; and report their Opinions to the House; viz. to Mr. Robinson, Colonel Downes, Mr. Darley, Mr. Holland, Mr. Westrow, Colonel Rich, Mr. Attorney, Mr. Sey, Mr. Ja. Challoner, Mr. Bond, Colonel Marten, Mr. Smyth, Lieutenant General Fleetwood, Major General Harrison, Sir Arthure Hesilrig, Colonel Morley, Mr. Long, Mr. Dormer, Mr. Carew, Mr. Nevill, Mr. R. Darley, Mr. John Stephens, Mr. Wm. Stephens, or any Five of them: And the Committees of the Army and Navy are joined to this Committee for that Purpose; and all that come to have Voices: And Mr. Robinson and Mr. Sey are to take care of it: And this Committee are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber; and so de die in diem; and to report to the House on this Day Sevennight.
Excise.
Resolved, That it be referred to the Committee of Excise, to consider the State of the Excise, and how the same is charged; and report it to the House: And also to consider how the Inconveniences and Abuses in UnderOfficers, in the Collecting the Excise, may be redressed; and to report their Opinion therein to the House.

Ordered, That the House do take into Consideration the Report from the Committee of Accompts on Tuesday Morning.
