THE House, according to former Order, was this Day resolved into a grand Committee upon the Bill for Increase of Shipping, and Encouragement of the Navigation of this Nation.

Letter read.

A Letter from the Lord Commissioner Whitelock, the Lord Commissioner Lisle, Lord Chief Justice, and Sir Gilbert Pickering, from Uxbridge, of the 10th of September, 1651, was this Day read.

Grant to Gen. Cromwell, &c.

Resolved, That Lands of Inheritance of the yearly Value of Four thousand Pounds, belonging to this State, be settled upon the Lord General Cromwell, and his Heirs; as a Mark of Favour from the Parliament, for his great and eminent Services for this Commonwealth.

Resolved, That Lands of Inheritance, of the yearly Value of Two thousand Pounds, belonging to this State, in England, be settled on Henry Ireton, Esq. DeputyGeneral of Ireland, and his Heirs; as a Mark of the Parliament's Favour for his great and eminent Services for the Commonwealth.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Committee appointed to bring in their Report touching the Lord General, to consider of particular Lands, of the Values abovesaid, to be settled according to the two last Votes; and to bring in several Acts for that Purpose.

Sir Henry Vane reports, from the Council of State, a Copy of a Letter from Lieutenant General Monck to the Lord General, dated at Dundee, 1 September, 1651: Which was this Day read.

Persons to be brought to Tryal.

Mr. Scott reports, from the Council of State, That it be represented to the Parliament, as the humble Opinion of this Council, That James Earl of Derby, Colonel Edward Massy, Duke Hamilton, John Earl of Lauderdaile, the Earl of Cleveland, Captain Bendbow, Sir Timothy Fetherston Haugh, and the Mayor and Sheriffs of Worcester, are fit Persons to be brought to Tryal, and made Examples of Justice.

That the Earl of Derby be tried at Chester, by a Court Martial, erected by the Commission of the Lord General, upon the Act of the 12th of August.

That Captain Bendbow be tried, in like Manner, at Chester.

That Sir Timothy Fetherston Haugh be tried, in like Manner, at Chester.

That Colonel Edward Massie be tried at Westminster, by a Court Martial.

That the Earl of Lauderdaill, Duke Hamilton, and the Earl of Cleveland, be sent to the Tower, to be there kept close Prisoners in Order to their Tryal.

That the Mayor and Sheriff of Worcester be tried at Coventry, or Warwick, which the Lord General shall think fit, by a Court Martial, to be there appointed and commissionated, as aforesaid.
