Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to take Care, and give Order for, Payment for the Ships taken up for the present Service of the Parliament in Lancashire and Cheshire.

Bristoll Militia.

A Letter from the Commissioners of the Militia from Bristoll, of the Twenty-seventh of August 1651, was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Parliament do take Notice of the good Affection and Forwardness of the Mayor, and the rest of the Militia, of the City of Bristoll, and of the Wellaffected in that City, to secure the City, and serve the Commonwealth; and that a Letter of Thanks be sent unto them from the Parliament: And that Mr. Hodges do prepare a Letter to that Purpose; which Mr. Speaker is to sign.

Yorkshire Militia.

A Letter from the Commissioners of the Militia for York, of the Twenty-first of August 1651, from York, was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Parliament doth approve of what the Commissioners for the Militia of Yorkshire have done, in raising Forces for the publick Service, and levying Moneys for their Maintenance; and that a Letter of Encouragement be written to the said Commissioners, and Mr. Serjeant Widdrington; and that their Forces be speedily made ready, and sent as they shall receive Directions: And that Sir John Bouchier, do prepare the Letter, and Mr. Speaker do sign the same, accordingly.

A Letter from John Whitworth from Chester, of the Twenty-sixth of August 1651, was this Day read.

Resolved, That all the Letters be sent back to the Council of State.

House to sit.

Resolved, That the House do sit on Saturday and Monday next, notwithstanding the former Order; and that the former Order do stand for the future, till further Order.

Thanksgiving Day for Victory in Lancashire, &c.

Resolved, That, on the next Lord's Day, Thanks be given to Almighty God, by the Ministers in all Churches and Congregations within the City of London, and all Places within the late Lines of Communication, and weekly Bills of Mortality, for the great Mercies of God to this Nation, in the great and seasonable Defeat of the Earl of Derbie's Forces in the County of Lancaster: And likewise for the great Successes it hath pleased the Lord to give the Parliament Forces in Scotland: And that the Lord Mayor of the City of London do take Care, that timely Notice be given to the said Ministers, accordingly.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Council of State, to prepare a Narrative upon these Two Subjects, to be published, as the Ground of this Thanksgiving; and to report it to the House To-morrow Morning.

Army Maintenance.

An Act for the further Continuance of the Assessment of 120,000£. a Month for Three Months, from the Twenty-ninth of September 1651, for Maintenance of the Armies in England, Ireland, and Scotland, was this Day read the first Time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be read To-morrow Morning the first Business; and that Mr. Speaker do put the House in Mind thereof.
