Prayers.

A Letter from the Commissioners, Members of this House, sent, with the Propositions, to the King, of 2 Augusti 1646, from Newcastle, was this Day read.

An Ordinance for appointing Mr. Edward Corbett, Master of Arts, and Fellow of Merton-College in Oxford, to be Rector and Parson of the Church and Parish of Haseley, and to have all Profits thereto belonging, from the Death of Doctor Potter, late Incumbent there, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for appointing Joseph Maynard, Bachelor of Divinity, to be Vicar of the Church of Milton-Abbot in the County of Devon, and to have and receive all Profits thereto belonging, from the First Day of April last, without any Presentation, Admission, Institution, or Induction thereunto, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed. And

Ordered, That such Persons as shall have Ordinances sent from the Lords, for appointing them to be Ministers of any Church or Chapel, this House shall have particular Knowledge and Information of them, and of their Condition and Fitness, before their Ordinances shall be passed in this House.

An Ordinance for the Settling and Maintenance of Two Ministers at the Town of Marleborough in the County of Wiltes, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee of plundered Ministers: Who are to report the same on Wednesday Morning next.

An Ordinance, of the Lords and Commons, assembled in Parliament, for presenting Mr. Thomas Prynne to the Church of Westburne in the County of Sussex, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for appointing Mr. Samuel Torksey to be Rector or Parson of the Church and Parish of Scotter in the County of Lincolne; which became void by the Death of Doctor Wynne, late Incumbent there, was this Day read; and, upon the Question; passed.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for Removing and Discharging of Doctor Peter Heylin, a Delinquent, from being Rector of the Parish-Church of Alresford in the County of Southampton; and for appointing Mr. Thomas Twisse to be Rector and lawful Incumbent thereof; was this Day read: And

Ordered, That it be referred unto the Committee of plundered Ministers: Who are to take care how the Churches or Chapelries belonging thereunto may be supplied with able and godly Ministers; and how the said Ministers may be maintained.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for appointing Mr. Richard Hall to be Minister of Beverston in the County of Gloucester, and of the Castle of Kingscotte there; which became void by the Death of Dr. Daniel Eascott, late Incumbent there; and to have all Profits thereto belonging from Lady-Day last; was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for establishing Mr. Daniel Evans, Master of Arts, a godly orthodox Divine, to be a publick Lecturer in the Cathedral Church of Litchfield in the County of Stafford, to preach once every Lord's-Day, and once every Week, with the Allowance of Two hundred Pounds per Annum, out of the Estate of the Dean and Chapter of Litchfield, was this Day read:

And the Question being put, For Concurrence with the Lords;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Evance shall be established Lecturer in the Cathedral Church of Litchfield, to preach there every Lord's-Day, and once every Week; and to have a House to live in, and One hundred and Fifty Pounds per Annum allowed him, out of the Revenues of the Dean and Chapter of Litchfield; the First Payment of the said Allowance to be made at Michaelmas next: And that it be referred to Mr. Liegh, Mr. Swinfen, and Sir Charles Egerton, to bring in an Ordinance for settling Mr. Evance there accordingly.

Ordered, That Mr. Done, a Member of this House, shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Army shall have Power to send such Provisions, as they shall think necessary, for carrying on the Siege of Raglan-Castle.

Mr. Weaver reports a Declaration concerning such Ministers as are sequestrable, or have been sequestred, or turned out of their Livings, for any Delinquency or Scandal: The which was twice read; and, upon the Question, ordered to be referred back to the Committee that brought it in; to prepare and bring in an Ordinance, according to the Matter of the said Declaration, on this Day Sevennight.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for appointing Mr. Richard Northan, Clerk, to be Rector and Parson of the Church and Parish of Harlaxton near Grantham in the County of Lincolne, which became void by the Death of the late Incumbent there, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

An Ordinance, sent from the Lords, for Appointing of John Diggle Rector and Incumbent of the Rectory of Chiddingfield in the County of Surrey, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, ordered to be referred to the Committee of plundered Ministers: Who are to hear the Patron, and all Parties concerned therein; and to report the same to the House.

Ordered, &c. That the Ordinance for printing the Bibles be read the Second time on Wednesday next.

Ordered, &c. That the Ordinances for settling Ministers in New-Sarum, Chichester, and making Newport in the Isle of Wight parochial; and the other Ordinances, now in the House, for the settling particular Preaching Ministers; be taken into Consideration on Wednesday next.
