CHARITIES FOR THE POOR.

The only charity given specifically for the inhabitants of Nailsworth appears to be the gift by Nathaniel Dyer (d. 1833) of £100, the interest, over and above £1 1s. assigned to the minister of the episcopal chapel for a sermon and 10s. to the chapel wardens, to be distributed to the poor in bread. (fn. 1) In the early 1970s the income of £2 10s. was used to help the needy at the vicar's discretion. (fn. 2)
