Lawrence Oxburgh of Emneth, co. Norfolk, gent v Matthew Tayler of Wisbech, Isle of Ely, co. Cambridge, esq

Abstract

Proceedings survive from January 1637, but they do not show either the cause or result of Oxburgh's complaint against Tayler.

Summary of proceedings

On 28 January 1637 the cause was heard before the Earl of Arundel, Lord Maltravers and Sir Henry Marten, with Dr Duck as counsel for Oxburgh.

Notes

Lawrence Oxburgh of Emneth, co. Norfolk, gent (1611-1678) was the son of Thomas Oxburgh of King's Lynn, and Audrey, daughter of George Grymes of Antingham. Lawrence married Dorothy, daughter of Sir John Peyton of Doddington in the Isle of Ely.

Matthew Tayler of Wisbech, Isle of Ely, co. Cambridge, esq, was the son of Simon Tayler of co. Lincoln, and Elizabeth, daughter of a Mr Walsh of co. Lincoln. Matthew married Jane, daughter of John Brooke of co. Lincoln.
