George Owen, York Herald v Sir Richard Brawne of co. Gloucester, knt

Abstract
Owen, who was York Herald, complained that in St Dunstan-in-the-West, London, in July 1635, Brawne said to him, 'You goe upp and downe the country sharking and cheating', which words were provocative of a duel. No further proceeding or indication of sentence survives.

Between February and March 1635, he was involved in a visitation of Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Then in July, in St Dunstan-in-the-West, London, Sir Richard Brawne said to him 'you goe upp and downe the country, sharking and cheating', which words were provocative of a duel.

The Visitation of 1623 mentions a Richard Brayne of Littledean, co. Gloucester. On 1 October 1626, George Beard and his wife Anne, were licensed to alienate land in co. Gloucester to Sir Richard Brawne. George Owen was appointed York herald on 3 January 1634.
