Sir John Oglander of Nunwell, near Brading, Isle of Wight, knt v Peter Carr

Abstract

Proceedings survive from February 1637, but they do not show either the cause or result of Oglander's complaint against Carr.

Summary of proceedings

Dr Exton was counsel and on 16 February 1637 he decreed that Carr had been warned to respond.

Notes

Sir John Oglander was the senior knight and deputy lieutenant on the Isle of Wight, serving as its sheriff from 1637-9. He was the eldest son of Sir William Oglander and his first wife, Ann, daughter of Anthony Dillington of the Isle of Wight. Oglander was appointed high sheriff of Hampshire in September 1637.
