Roger Jones of Poole, co. Montgomery, gent v Kiffin Lloyd of the same
April 1640
Abstract
Jones complained that Lloyd 'did most malitiously and scandalously revile and defame' him 'as a base beggarlie rascall', saying that all of Jones's kindred 'were Basterds and Beggars', in the presence of several people. Jones entered bond to prosecute the cause on 28 April 1640, but no further proceedings survive.

'Kiffin Lloyd of Poole, in the presence of divers credible persons, did most malitiously and scandalously revile and defame your petitioner, saying your petitioner was a base beggarlie rascall and that all the kindred of the familie of the Jones were Basterds and Beggars with manie other verie reproachfull tearmes, whereby your peticoner greatly suffers in his reputacon being a gentleman discended of an antient familie bearing armes.'
Prays that Kiffin Lloyd be brought to answer.
