Robert Horseman of Stretton, co. Rutland, esq v Thomas Wade of Greetham, co. Rutland, yeoman

July - October 1637

Abstract

The nature and result of Horseman's complaint against Wade are unknown. Wade entered bond to answer the charges on 7 July 1637 and the case was proceeding in October; but nothing further survives.

Bound to appear 'in the Court in the painted Chamber within the Pallace of Westminster'.

Sealed, subscribed and delivered in the presence of Humphrey Terrick.

Summary of proceedings

Dr Talbot acted as counsel for Horseman. On 14 October 1637 Wade was warned to be present at the petition of Dr Talbot, that he be examined in safety until sufficient enquiry had been made concerning his personal circumstances.

Notes

Robert Horseman of Kensington, co. Middlesex and afterwards of Stretton, co. Rutland (d.1657), was the son of Robert Horseman of Ripon, co. York. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Gilbert Pickering of Titchmarsh, co. Northampton. Their eldest son, another Robert Horseman, was born before 1616, but he died unmarried.
