Thomas Bromfield of Staple, co. Kent, esq v John Venetian of Ash, co. Kent
May 1639
Abstract
Bromfield petitioned that between March and May 1638 Venetian abused him, calling him 'base fellow' in the presence of many of his friends. Process was granted on 27 May 1639, but no further proceedings survive.

'The petitioner being a gentleman well discended and of a generous family, one John Venetian of Ashe did in the months of March, Aprill or May anno dm. 1638 much abuse and disgrace your petitioner and in a most ignominious manner call him in a publike company, base fellow in the presence of many of his friends.'
Petitioned that Venetian be brought to answer.
Maltravers granted process on 27 May 1639.

Bound to appear 'in the Court in the painted Chamber within the Pallace of Westminster'.
