57 BOND V POMEROY

Humphrey Bond of Highweek, co. Devon, gent v Thomas Pomeroy of Ingsdon, Ilsington, co. Devon, esq

July 1639 - February 1640

Abstract

Bond entered bond to prosecute his cause against Pomeroy on 1 July 1639 and on 4 February 1640 Dr Parry was due to report on the commission to hear Bond's witnesses; but no further proceedings survive.

Initial proceedings

6/82, Plaintiff's bond

1 July 1639

Bound to appear 'in the Court in the painted Chamber within the Pallace of Westminster'.

Signed by Humphrey Bond.

Sealed, subscribed and delivered in the presence of John Watson.

Summary of proceedings

Dr Parry acted as counsel for Bond and Dr Martin for Pomeroy. On 4 February 1640, before Lord Maltravers, Dr Parry was due to report proceedings on the plaintiff's commission.

Notes

Thomas Pomeroy was mentioned in the Visitation of Devon in 1620, but Humphrey Bond was not. He was possibly the brother of the royalist Sir Hugh Pomeroy.
