John Warde, grocer, Nicholas Lathell, gent., Reginald Asshe, mercer, John Gressle, Robert Broune, of the county of Essex, esq., Henry Frowyk, son of Thomas Frowyk, of London, gent., William Vampage, esq., Thomas Asshely, clk., Christopher Toly, chaplain, and John Godeyere, gent., were seised, long before the death of the said Richard Charleton, of the under-mentioned manor of Barton in fee, to the use of the said John Warde, his heirs and assigns, viz. since 21 April, 2 Rich. III, for 160l. paid beforehand to the said Richard.
He died 23 Aug. last, seised of the under-mentioned manor of Trumpyton in fee. John Charleton, aged 8 and more, is his son and heir.

Robert Chapman, clk., and John Nune, enfeoffed Katharine, daughter of Roger Drury of Hausted, co. Suff., esq., John Clopton, John Browghton, Thomas Drury, William Lee, Robert Harleston, Thomas Heygham the younger, Henry Rows, Clement Heygham, and John Drury, son of the said Roger Drury, esq., of the under-mentioned manors of Thorp, Felsham, Brokehall, Georges, and Maydenhall, with tenements called ‘Verdons’ and ‘Astones,’ to hold for the term of the life of the said Katharine, and to her use, with remainder to the said Henry Straunge in tail, with remainder in default to the said feoffees to the use of his will. By his last will the said Henry directed that in the event of his death without issue the premises should remain, after the death of the said Katharine, to the right heirs of the body of his grandfather John Straunge, with remainder in default to John and Robert Drury, esqs., sons of the said Roger, in tail, with cross remainders of their respective shares, with remainder to William Drury their brother, with remainder for sale by his executors.
John Twyer, esq., enfeoffed John Broughton, John Clopton, Roger Drury, Thomas Drury, Robert Harleston, John Drury, and Clement Heygham, esqs., of the under-mentioned manor of Bemans, without any condition, but on trust nevertheless to perform the will of the said Henry; who by his will directed that the said feoffees should permit his executors, viz. Roger Drury, esq., Katharine, his wife, Robert Drury, esq., and Thomas Thursby, gent., to take the issues and profits thereof for seven years next after his decease for the payment of his debts; and should at the end of that term enfeoff Roger Straunge, his son, thereof, in tail, with remainder to Robert his son in tail, with remainder to John his son in tail, with remainder to the said Katharine for life, with remainder to the right heirs of John Straunge his grandfather, with remainder to William Drury in tail, with remainder to the said Katharine and her heirs.
He died 25 Nov., 1 Hen. VII. Roger Straunge, aged seventeen 24 Oct. last, is his son and heir.

Writ 27 Nov., inq. 5 April, 1 Hen. VII.
John Wylly, of Chosill, and William Dyxe, clk., enfeoffed the said Henry, John Drury, and John Shernburn, esqs., and William Cobbe, gent., of the under-mentioned manor of Hunstanton, on trust to perform the will of the said Henry; who, by his last will directed that his said feoffees should permit his executors, viz. Roger Drury, esq., Katharine Straunge, his wife, Robert Drury, esq., and Thomas Thursby of Lynne, gent., to take the issues and profits of the said manor till they had received 300l. for the payment of his debts, and to find a secular priest to celebrate for his and his ancestors’ souls for 20 years in Hunstanton Church; and that they should, after the said sum was raised, enfeoff Roger le Straunge his son of the said manor, the site of the manor excepted, in tail, with like remainders to Robert and John his other sons, with remainder to the said Katharine for life, with remainder to the right heirs of the body of Hamon Straunge, knt.; and that they should demise the site of the manor, excepted as above, to the said Katharine for her life, with remainder to follow the said manor. Moreover, after the above feoffment made to the said Henry and others of the said manor, he entered on 7a. 3r. of land in Hunstanton, and expelled his co-feoffees, and without their assent or leave demised the same, though parcel of the said manor, to George Hasterby to hold from Michaelmas, 21 Edw. IV, for seven years then next.
One William Palmer, chaplain, enfeoffed the said Henry, Thomas Sowthows, Thomas Mors, William Jokyn, Robert Noke, and Robert Denys, of the under-mentioned manors of Elyngham and Walcotys, in Little Massyngham, to the use of the will of the said Henry; who by his will directed that the said feoffees should permit his executors to take the issues and profits thereof for seven years for the purposes of his will, and should thereafter, by the discretion of his said executors, give the premises to John Straunge his son, in tail, with like remainders to Robert and Roger, his other sons, with remainder to the said Katharine and her heirs for ever.
John Foxe enfeoffed the said Henry, John Wyndham, esq., Roger Drury, and Robert Drury, esqs., Edmund Andrewe, clk., and Thomas Mors, of the under-mentioned manors in Congham, without any condition expressed, but in trust to perform the will of the said Henry; who by his last will devised them to follow the manors of Elyngham and Walcotys, as above.
Edmund Andrewe, clk., and John Hall, enfeoffed Anthony, Earl of Ryvers, John Radclyff Fitzwalter, now Lord Fitzwalter, William Calthorp, knt., and others, of the under-mentioned manors in Anmer, to the use of the said Henry’s will. And the said Henry willed that the said Radclyff, and his co-feoffees, should demise the premises to the said Katharine for life, with remainder to Roger Straunge his son in tail, with remainder to Robert his son in tail, with remainder to John his son in tail, with remainder to the said Katharine, her heirs and assigns for ever.
William Say, knt., and Elizabeth his wife, gave the under-mentioned manors of Frenge and Hakfordhall by fine to Richard Cote and others, to the use of the said Henry, and the said Thomas Thursby, their heirs and assigns, viz. in trust as to one moiety to perform the will of the said Henry, and as to the other moiety to perform the will of the said Thomas. By his will the said Henry directed his said feoffees to allow his executors to take the issues and profits of his moiety of the said manors for seven years, and thereafter to enfeoff Robert Straunge his son thereof at the discretion of his executors, with remainders over to John and Roger his sons, with remainder to the said Katharine, and her heirs.

NORF, Manor of Hunstanton, together with the said 7a. 3r., held of the King, as of the duchy of Lancaster, as of the hundred of Smythedon, co. Norf., by 1/20 of a knight’s fee, and by suit of the hundred court, or 12d. for omitting the same; clear yearly value 20l., without the 7a. 3r., which are worth 5s.

BUCKS. He held no lands, but John Arundell, knt., his father, was seised, jointly with Katharine his wife, of the manor of Kyngesey, with its appurtenances in Kyngesay and Toursey, in fee, and by deed dated 2 Nov., 12 Edw. IV, gave the same to William Est, John Henton, clk., William Wheler, and John Loseley, and levied a fine to them thereof, as feoffees for the use of Geoffrey Dormer of Tame, who is still living, and takes the issues and profits thereof to his own use. The said manor is held of William Norrys, knt., by fealty, and 3d. rent, and is of the clear yearly value of seven marks.

It appears by a deed dated 3 Aug., 13 Edw. IV, that he was seised of the under-mentioned manor jointly with Joan his wife, Thomas Wyndesore, now deceased, John Warde, mercer, John Warde, grocer, Richard Aunsham, Nicholas Hagur, and Reginald Assh; and that by deed dated 20 April, 19 Edw. IV, he released all his interest therein to the said Thomas Wyndesore, and the others.
By deed dated 31 July, 21 Edw. IV, Robert Medford, Nicholas Hayt, John Tukhull, Hugh Pereson, John Harold, and William Baylly, gave the under-mentioned lands in Staunden, &c., to Katharine Hayte, widow, who survives, for her life, with remainder to Thomas Frowyk, knt., and Joan his wife, John Warde, mercer, John Warde, grocer, Richard Aunsham, Reginald Assh, and one John Graseley, their heirs and assigns.

He died without issue on the Sunday before Michaelmas last, seised of the under-mentioned manor of Stanbrigge, and of the said reversion in fee. Ellen Benstede, aged 50 and more, is his aunt and next heir, viz. sister of John Benstede, knt., his father.

John Kemys, aged 8 and more, is his cousin and heir, viz. son of John, his son.

By deed dated 24 March, 17 Edw. IV, having obtained licence for the purpose expressed in letters patent, 27 Nov., 16 Edw. IV, he gave certain tenements, (specified), parcel of the manor of Frome, by the name of the moiety of the manor of Frome called ‘Valeys’ and the hundred of Frome, to John Hampton, John Mervyn, Richard Erly, Walter Mervyn, and Robert South, who by their deed dated at Frome, 1 April, 17 Edw. IV, gave the said moiety to him and Edith his wife, who survives, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs.
He died 13 Oct. last, seised of the other moiety of the said manor and hundred in fee. Edmund Leversegge, aged 32 weeks on the day of his father’s death, is his son and heir by the said Edith.
SOMERS. Manor and hundred of Frome, called ‘Valeys,’ one moiety of the said manor being of the clear yearly value of 15l. 6s. 8d., and the other moiety of the clear yearly value of 24l. 13s. 11d., and the said hundred being in ordinary years of the clear yearly value of 8l.

By deed dated on the feast of St. Matthias the Apostle, 1 Ric. III, he enfeoffed William Barkeley, knt., now deceased, and Edmund Langley, esq., Richard Yate, and Thomas Wythyford, who survive, of the under-mentioned manors and lands, for the payment, out of the issues and profits thereof, of his debts amounting to 500l. and more, and thereafter to re-enfeoff him of the premises in tail, with remainder to Richard Yate, his cousin, in tail, with remainder in default to his own right heirs.
He died 6 Oct. last. Maud, his wife, daughter of Walter Langeley, survives. She was married to him before the said settlement and is entitled to dower in the premises. Edmund Wykys, aged 17 and more, is his son and heir. The receipts from the premises since the date of the said settlement up to present time do not exceed 100 marks.
GLOUC. Manor of Durseley, with its members of Colde Newynton and Baggepath, worth 26l. 3s. 4d., held of the King in chief, by service of 1/2 of a knight’s fee.

One John Pygot, Walter Taylard, Richard Knesworth, John Elys, and William Derawnt, were seised of the under-mentioned manor of Granesden, to the use of the said John Pygot and his heirs. After his death, the said Thomas Pygot, his son, entered upon the said manor without the assent of the surviving feoffees, whom he expelled, and became thereby seised of the said manor in fee.
By deed dated 2 Feb., 20 Edw. IV, the said Thomas enfeoffed Henry Pygot, his son and heir apparent, and Elizabeth his wife who survives, of the under-mentioned manor of Alaunz, to hold to them and the heirs of Henry, and the said Henry died so seised.
The said Richard Knesworth, John Elys, and William Derawnt were seised of the under-mentioned manor of Litlyngton to the use of the said John Pygot, after whose death the said Thomas disseised them thereof.
The said John and Thomas Pygot were jointly seised of the under-mentioned manor of Stepyll Mordon, and the said John died so seised, and the said Thomas survived him, and was solely seised thereof in fee.

The under-mentioned manor of Briston and a moiety of the manors of Wolterton, and ‘Woltertons’ in Feld Dallyng, were given by John Briston to John Briston of Snetisham in tail. The said John Briston of Snetisham married first Elizabeth, daughter of Marmaduke Lumley, by whom he had issue a son John Briston of Briston, and a daughter Eleanor Briston, and secondly Katharine daughter of Thomas Belyers, by whom he had issue Ralph Briston named in the writ. John Briston of Briston succeeded his father John Briston of Snetishame, and by Joan his wife, daughter of John Passheley of London, had issue John Briston of Berton, William Briston and Thomas Briston. The two latter died without issue. John Briston of Berton succeeded his father John Briston of Briston, and married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Lovell, and had issue by her John Briston of Est Harling, on whose death without issue the said Ralph Briston entered on the said manor and moiety of manors, and was seised thereof, as son and heir of John Briston of Snetisham. Eleanor, daughter of John Briston of Snetishame, married Philip Sutton, and died leaving issue William Sutton, now aged 24 and more, who on the death without issue of the said Ralph Briston, which happened 10 Sept., 2 Ric. III, entered on the said manor and moiety of manors, as cousin and heir of John Briston of Snetishame, viz. son of Eleanor his daughter.
Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Chamberleyn, holds the under-mentioned manor of Downes in Snetishame for the term of her life, with reversion to the said Ralph and his heirs.
The said Ralph was also seised of two parts of the manor of Sadilbowe, with the reversion of the other third expectant on the death of the said Elizabeth Chamberleyn, who holds it in dower of John Briston of Berton.
John Coppyng, aged 18 and more, is cousin and next heir of the said Ralph Briston, viz. son of John Coppyng, son of John Coppyng, son of Isabel, sister of John Briston, father of the said John Briston of Snetishame.

One Isabel Durward was seised in fee of the under-mentioned manors of Martel Hall, and Great Brumley, and of 200a. land in Dovercorte, and intermarried with David Mortymer, esq., and had issue by him the said Robert. David Mortymer survives, and is seised of the said manors and land, as tenant by the curtesy, with reversion to the said Robert and his heirs.
The said Robert died 22 Aug., 1 Hen. VII, seised of the under-mentioned manor of Landymer Hall, and lands called ‘Badons,’ ‘Folton Hall,’ and ‘Panteryse’ in fee. Elyzabeth Mortymer, aged 10 and more, is his daughter and heir.
